Yes that shawarma has leaked online and may (or may not) tie things together. Spoiler!
I really hope it means Raimi is doing Evil Dead 4 after all this time. I saw said leak, I can only assume it answers the question of if this is just a remake or a not-quite-ED4.

It adds nothing to anything. He's just there to say peek a boo.

Okay. I just did a search for this "schawarma", I don't think I found the thing that is being talked about here.

Bruce Campbell is in the film at the end. Schawarma is referring to the end of the Avengers.

Didn't they announce Army of Darkness 2. I hope that wasn't fan service either.

Following quite a few warnings about the graphic content featured in the footage, Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead took to the WonderCon stage with Alvarez, producer and original franchise star Bruce Campbell and cast members Lou Taylor Pucci, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas and Jane Levy.

The panel began with a new trailer created exclusively for WonderCon. Very similar to the recent Red Band version, this one offered some alternate shots and the tagline, "Once you unleash evil, it will consume you. Fear what you will become."

"You can tell an 'Evil Dead' fan is a real 'Evil Dead' fan because they won't f--ing shut up about it," joked Campbell about meeting Alvarez for the first time.

Alvarez stressed that his vision for the reboot required that the effects be completely practical. To that end, Levy recalled that her biggest challenge during production was getting literally buried alive.

"Don't be such a baby!" Campbell shot back, laughing.

Assuming the film does well at the box office, Alvarez says that he's got big plans for the franchise. He'd like to make a sequel to this one while Sam Raimi moves forward with Army of Darkness 2. Then, both worlds would combine for a final, seventh film.

"I think seven is a nice number," Campbell grinned.

The panel wrapped up with a special video message from Sam Raimi introducing a sequence from the April 5 release. In it, Lucas' Olivia begins her possession in the cabin. Pucci's Eric comes in to check on her in the bathroom and sees her sitting, cutting into her own tongue in the bathtub. He jumps back and slips on her severed cheek, falling backwards. She leaps at him, stabbing him with a shard of something and then, over and over, with a hypodermic needle that actually goes directly into his eyeball. She slams him against the toilet and it shatters, but he's able to beat her back with a broken piece of porcelain. Eric is left on the floor, realizing that the end of the needle is still in his eye and he slowly pulls it out as the entire WonderCon audience winces.

There we have it, both Evil Dead films will "cross-over" after each get sequels.

Awesome the more the better!

This franchise has been gone way too long.

I just hope when this film hits DVD/BLu or if they do the other planned films (which I really hope they do), they do a box set of the series in a Book of the Dead packaging or a box set with each film in an individual book of the dead case (we never got one for Army of Darkness), I really loved those Evil Dead I & II in those packaging.

So, if we want to look at this new film as taking place in the Raimiverse, we can? I can dig it.

I just hope this 'shawarma' isn't just fan service either.

I nominate that shawarma become the official slang term for after the credits stinger.

Also on that cross-over/Raimverse news, we've had hints since one of the first images came out for the film!

I haven't scene the movie, and i don't mind spoilers. But I have no clue what the spoiler everyone is talking about is. Can anyone tell me, do they have a hero character like Ash? A character who in effect saves the day, or is it (in my opinion) just another horror/slasher film where the evil character kills everyone and thats all, sort of like Freddy or Jason? Or even like the movie the Ring or the Grudge?

To me I like the idea that its a horror film but with a hero, so its different. I mean making the Ash type hero someone who is as super heroic as he realistically is, not like the lead character from Scream. I am not saying I wanted a straight remake, but a remake that is darker and scarier like it seems to be but with the same hero (maybe a girl this time or something).
Instead of the villain, killer, living on and going movie to movie, maybe have the hero go on and face other evils (just with the same darker scary tone this one seems to have).

Well the twist is
Unlike and very much like the original, the hero is most unlikely person... and the character that you think is the hero, gets squashed

I was wondering about this too. Is there a Ash type character in this new movie? I only heard about the Evil Dead movies ( this reboot will be the first Evil Dead movie ever). Planning on seeing it with a group or hoping it will be a packed house Friday night.

There is an Ash like character
[BLACKOUT]But he's a red herring to the real protagonist[/BLACKOUT]

And that hero is? You can tell me, I don't mind. You can wrap it in black and put spoiler quotes around it twice.
