Ezra Miller IS the Flash

I'm so glad to we aren't splitting hairs at all between WW's hair color and Gal's.

The jet black hair that Diana, Wayne and Kent sport in the comic books often times is interpreted as some kind of brunette in live action. Only Superman has been the one who has gotten the actual "jet" black treatment anyway.

Lois Lane has had several red head incarnations. This one just being one of them.

Brown haired characters (e.g., Lois Lane, Peter Parker, Hercules, Scott Summers) have all been mistaken for redheads at one time or another due to a popular shading technique used by some colorists, but they aren't what you would call true redheads. It's a bit similar to the bluish tint in Superman's hair.

I wasn't aware of Kreuk's interpretation of Lana being the most popular. Are you positive of that?

As for Wonder Woman that seems to be of little importance seeing as his Bruce Wayne also has brown hair and gray sides when in the comic book he always sports jet black hair yet the brown hair is acceptable seeing as Christian Bale the most recent live action incarnation also sported that hair color.

Affleck's hair isn't quite jet black, but it's noticeably darker (even with grey sides) than that of Christian Bale's. In terms of physical appearance, he's the closest live-action Bruce Wayne we've ever had.

So while he does deviate he still sticks within the general existing playing field. Allen and West however have always been distinctively blonde or red/brunette respectively.

I still wouldn't be surprised if he decided to change things up a bit. In fact, he already has to an extent.

I wonder if some would have had a better reaction to this casting if we didn't have Grant as Flash already.

Honestly, I'm willing to wait and see on where this goes.

And for those like K.S., who are offended by the fact that Ezra is bi-sexual...I think something along the lines of what Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) said about a matter similar to this is spot on..."Does a straight man need to be gay in real life in order to play Gay character?" (vice versa)

Plus, if you watch Spock's romance with Uhura, you would never be able to tell that the actor was gay in real life, or even Ellen Page regarding to her character's on-screen romance with Iceman.

Point being, the dude's orientation shouldn't be a matter at all when it comes to the casting.

I've seen a lot of trustworthy folks here praise the dude for his acting skills, so I'm willing to give the guy a chance towards proving on what kind of Flash he'll be able to bring on screen.

Many fans have taken a strong liking to Grant's portrayal of Flash, so it's not surprising that he's become the definitive version of the character for them practically overnight. Even with MoS, you had a number of Smallville fans who felt that Tom Welling was a better fit for Superman than Henry Cavill. It's human nature.

The choice seems really Teenage angst Twilightish but meh it's DC I'll give a damn when they can make something decent other than Batman reboots.

He looks like the kid from Deadliest Catch show?

I'll take it that you're not a fan of Superman Returns, Watchmen, Man of Steel and Green lantern.

That means, Bryan Singer, Zack Snyder and Martin Campbell all failed to make a decent movie. :o

Some people seem to think that the actor's sexual orentation will affect the character.

What if Snyder decides to make "Ezra Flashes" and his version of The Flash into something flashy and colorful? How would the audience react?

Would a silghtly flamboyant superhero with gay undertones work if it's done the right way? I have to point out that it shouldn't just be for laughs but be an actual part of the character. And it could create some tension in the larger-than-life scenes.
Dramatic tension that is, not sexual tension (lol)

I'm not saying that Flash should perform a dance number or anything. It should be way more subtle than that.

But in one way or another, the cinematic version of the superhero needs to have his own identity. In fact, all the characters should be different from each other and not just come off as clones of the same personality.
Some changes from the source material will be done and this is one of the ways to go.
People here don't want a dark and serious Flash anyway. They want him to be a lighter character.
When one thinks about it, there could be a reason to why Flash is called Scarlet Speedster and not something less flamboyant. That's why I think Baz Lurhmann is perfect to helm the solo film.
Barry Allen won't have a big role in B v S. The way I see it, he would come off as a more gray character in his first appearance. But later on, he will be more in focus and that opens up the chance to flesh out Flash and his manners.

Iron Man was portrayed more or less as a rock star in the Marvel films. Why couldn't Flash be some kind of performer too?

I think we should get a decent conventional Flash movie before we go for anything too self - aware or a major departure from his characterisation in terms of personality.

Not sure who you're speaking for when you say 'people don't want a dark and serious Flash'? Maybe not dark but balancing serious with his characteristic humor is probably better than a parody of the character.

Agreed. As I had mentioned in a elsewhere post, I don't mind nor care if we have a superhero that's gay, but I wouldn't want a major superhero with a established history to receive such a drastic change when they could just create a new hero from scratch.

In any case, I'm almost 100 percent confident that just because Ezra is bi in real life, doesn't mean that we should expect the same from his Flash.

Singer is gay in real life, but he's never made any of his X-men characters gay, nor did he have either Rogue be Bi-sexual like Anna is real life or Kitty as a Lesbian like how Ellen is.

Actually, I meant a flamboyant Flash, not a gay Flash. There's some difference, right?

You must have missed all the posts where people state that Flash doesn't need to/shouldn't be serious.

IMO, the majority of the film should be more dramatic/serious than light. It can still be entertaining and colorful though.
But that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I hear you. Most of those posts though were referring to seriousness at the expense of his typical and characteristic humor, which I agree with. Turning Barry Allen's personality into a somber Batman replica would be a bad move. At the same time though they shouldn't turn him into a goofy caricature, the way Wally West is often portrayed in the JL cartoons, where he's basically a walking one-liner and shows little if any other personality traits.

If they're going with Miller as Barry Allen then I think he needs a very balanced portrayal, Allen is usually a voice of reason in the JL, and a "middle ground". He can be the moral voice and the calming factor if things get too heated, but he can also be the light-hearted and humorous guy that injects some levity into situations. Either extreme would be a disservice to the character, so I'm not sure flamboyant would be the way to go, unless he'll end up playing Wally West. In that case there may be an argument for it, since Wally is usually goofy.

This level of flamboyance? :D

Haha, you're so funny :woot: :woot:

I believe that picture is some degrees too much, lol.
Think of my suggestion as more of Baz Lurhmann flamboyant.

Let it be a superhero version of Great Gatsby, with just a few Moulin Rouge tweaks. But don't have the characters speak with rhyme like in Romeo + Juliet. It would be difficult to handle, to "eat it".
To sum it up, a Lurhmann Flash could very well be treated like a stage play that takes place in an actual city and isn't limited to just a theatre.

The other side of the Lurhmann coin is Australia: 3 h epicness that consists of pretty much everything - romance, adventure, drama, humour, action, war and even magic.

Just pick what you prefer :woot:

Obvious troll is obvious.

I've never read a Flash comic in my entire life and I only know him from JL material!

But your idea makes him sound more intriguing :D

Thanks, bro :)

It may/will be interesting. But the changes from the source material are too hard to digest for the fans, sorry to say. It's like trying to chew on a stone because it looks tasty.

As for the general audience, how will they react to something like this? Typical Lurhmann films (except maybe Australia) have strange melodramatic relationships. The characters live in an alternate world and they are more or less weird. They act like they are a part of a poem.

Fans would be raising her their eyebrows and fists.

And if the GA can provide Transformers with over a billion dollars, I don't think they'd be too urked :D.

Maybe :)
I edited my post. Do I have a point about the Lurhmann style?

I think so.

If they ever did a time travel or alternate reality storyline, which Flash is pretty much often involved in, that could work particularly well.

Its my first photoshop attempt in a long while. Go easy :)

I'm more interested in Flash's capabilities.

Snyder pointed out about Aquaman that he can survive crushing underwater pressure, and become stronger through it. Almost as strong as Superman.

With Flash, you've got to remember it's more than just about how fast he can run. He can break every known barrier.
What other effects would this acceleration have? He can travel so fast that his very molecules don't group together into a solid form and he can pass through things? He can heal and think quicker than Superman?
For him to process things quicker, he would be seemingly on the little over excitable side?
His aging process would also increase greatly would it not?

Those are things I'm excited about!
