Fable III

Yeah. *****-slapping peasants isn't always a bad thing.

What if they're crying wolf? One good *****-slap and that kid would've stopped.

Just got home with it, looking forward to playing it here later.

Haven't gotten there yet. Are the decisions legit? I was a little worried when in the early stages of the game it seemed to have the standard "saving puppies=you're good" and "***** slapping peasants=you're bad" choices.

Well its still very clear whats bad or not, but making those decisions can be extremely tough considering the events that unfold in the game. However, if you are playing as an evil character, i dont think it would much matter as you dont care anyway, but im trying to play as a good character and have my people like me and making the "good" decisions could possibly end up with horrible repercussions, which im about to find out. Its the first time in a game like this that iv actually had to wrestle with decisions like that. To that i say BRAVO lionhead.

Fantastic so far. I'm only about 2 hours in but I'm already getting more of a Fable feel from this than I did from Fable II. So good.

I had a much better time playing through this game then i did Fable II.

Yeah, me too. After I finished the main story, I was bummed for a few minutes that it was over... Then I started walking around town, and just saw how much everything had changed after the events of the final act. It was really cool!. Then I checked quests, and not only did I still have a ridiculous number of things I could be doing, but new quests had also appeared. I'm so happy with this game!

Also, PM said that he wanted to put out more DLC for Fable III then he did for Fable II.

^Warning about that... it contains game ending spoilers without warning. The only reason I found out is back I read the talkback first. Based on what I DID read I think this editor is full of it.... he's saying Fable III is a HUGE step back from Fable II. My mind boggles at why he would think that. He says the combat isn't as good and magic use isn't very great either.

I HATED magic use in Fable II... I hated that villagers fell in love with my character no matter what I did. I couldn't go into Bowerstone Market unless I wanted a bajillion hearts cluttering the screen. Those aren't the only complaints I have about Fable II... coming off of Fable I which was so full of life Fable II felt dull and void of any and all emotion the first game had. Fable III gives that back to me... giving the Hero a voice in Fable III also helps that IMHO. He's no longer just a guy full of generic grunts and gestures.

Bottom line is this: I don't normally agree with IGN. I'll post their reviews here and there but they are NEVER a site that I constantly go to so I can see what they have to say about games. They've just become another GameSpot, IMHO.

Yeah, okay, so uh, my advice to everyone is when you're a king, TAKE YOUR TIME with the decisions and money raising. The consequences of making a bad decision can certainly bite you in the arse.

Dude no kidding.

I played as a just king, and kept all of my promises and once the darkness came my kingdom was ravaged. I think i ended up with like 5 million plus deaths. My kingdom is now a ghost town. Does your kingdom eventually repopulate? Or is that it for Albion?

Anyone who thinks Fable II was better than Fable III just doesnt know what a good game is. Im not saying Fable III is perfect, but its leaps and bounds above Fable II. The only thing i dont care for in Fable III is the fact that things got stripped down too much. I mean i like the idea of no menus, but trying to find specific items in stores can be a pain.

Yeah, the only things i'd want from a new Fable game are more of everything... More customisation, more weapons, more enemies, more things to unlock, more abilities, more areas. I seriously cant get enough lol.

I think thats it for Albion, Pat. Look like the same thing happened to both of us. Now everyone hates me, all the shopkeepers are dead so I can't sell all my stuff, or buy the sweet new clothes I found in the Aurora City clothes shop. Still, it's kinda funny how all the dead bodies just stay there. There is a dead guard just lying in the doorway of my kids bedroom. Sure someone could move it, but.... Meh lol

Just started this game today. I loved Fable II, so I'd be perfectly happy if this is more of the same.

Current dog name: Dumper

"What kind of rubbish game allows you to kill the main villain in one blow?!"

LOL!

One of the big things that drove me crazy during Fable II was the lack of boss fights. This kind of game is just made for over the top, cliche boss battles.

Well, I finished the game.

I think I liked the "king phase" of the game better than most, but I also found the decisions to be kind of annoying. I didn't mind that they were there, on the contrary I would have loved them had they been better thought out, but as it stands they're too "video gamey". From the beginning it was obvious that they were just making you choose between money or making a group of people happy, and it never deviates from that. Which might have been fine if they offered you some other "middle ground" options. But they don't. It's always black and white, like build a school for the children....or send them into hard labor.

Which, by the way... "Hey lady. Maybe you've been living under a rock or something, but there's some horrific **** headed our way. I think you can wait one measly year for a school while we deal with this approaching cataclysm. Okay?"

Ugh. Short-sighted cretins.

Anyway, I ended up saving most of my citizens from certain annihilation and those plebs hate me for it. I should have taken all of the treasury money for myself and hid out in my sanctuary until the attack was over.

**** you, Albion! You hear me? **** YOU!! :argh:

OK, I've never played a Fable game before. This one looks like its the best of both Fable 1 and 2, but I dont just have 60 bucks to spend so is it really worth it?

If you don't have the money... no. I do however think the game is worth a purchase. Nothing is worth the purchase if you don't have the spare cash.

I just beat the main story... I extremely happy with the ending I saved Albion and everyone loves me. :)

If you're not up for dropping $60, I think the original Fable is still available for download via XBox Live. Cheaper, and still a fun game.

While it didn't have all the perks the later editions had, it had its own fair share of memorable moments and perks.

You know, I hated the original Fable. I bought The Lost Chapters for $5 at Best Buy, played it just past childhood, did the first one or two hero quests, and put it on the shelf.

But I've quite enjoyed this playthrough of Fable II, which I should actually have finished sometime tonight. Hey, I'll only be playing Fable III a week late, even though I had it release night.

Is this thing still coming out for the PC?

What is the gameplay like? Never played a Fable game before? Anything comparable to it?

Did anyone else get through the game without dying or getting "knocked out" or whatever? I didn't find the game challenging in the least.

Nope, never got knocked out.

I didnt think the game was challenging in combat, but it was to a degree in other areas. Like being a king i thought was challenging. I thought i was making good decisions but now that im through, im paying for some of those decisions that i thought were good.

But Fable really has become the poor man's, or the casual noob's RPG.
