Falcon is the new Captain America

Oh look. A minority in an iconic role that isn't done for pandering and actually makes perfect sense.

Congrats, Marvel. About time.

This news is actually really awesome! And makes sense more than someone stealing Thor's name.

I can see how Falcon is in spirit a good successor but isn't he a "normal dude" out of his suit? Can he even use Cap's shield?

Great questions! If only there were someway we could discover the answers. Maybe they'll be answered by the STORYLINE currently being cultivated by the Marvel team?

Steve Rodgers wasn't the first Captain America and he was never the only Captain America. Others have worn the mantle, and that's kind of the point. Captain America could have been anyone. He supposedly represents all of us. Just so happens this Brooklyn whimp has worn it best. Why shouldn't others, who are worthy, be allowed to step in and fill the role in Steve's time of need?

I have no problem with Sam stepping up. It makes sense and I'm sure Rodgers, even if he wasn't a fictional character, would support such a change. If you were able to ask him, Steve Rodgers would confirm, as he has done on many occasions in the books, that Captain America is a symbol, not just a man, and a symbol the world needs.

Who else would Steve Rodgers choose as a successor?

In addition, you all like act Steve Rodgers is going away, but as I understand it, he will be filling a mentor role for Sam, much as Bruce Wayne did for Terry Mcginnis.

I think as long as the story is told well it will create some interesting arcs and dynamics.

However, I would like the writers and Marvel to have the guts to take on the racial elements. So important when you consider the racial vitriol being posted in response to this change and the general degradation of equality in this country.

I'm pretty sure he was.

It's Rogers by the way not Rodgers.

I was kind of hoping Jet Black would take over for Steve. Kind of a poetic transition, with the child of Steve's enemy embracing Steve's ideals so fully that she can bear the Cap mantle. But the Falcon's cool too.

the reason i am not to cool with this is i believed the 1st time cap got dead! Falc should have took over, but sneaky Marvel had already thawed Bucky out and was ready to assume the shield! which was straight up bull &*(!now that audiences and more in tune with seeing Black Asgardians and Black kingpins... well we can go ahead and make Cap black now which has intrigued me enough to buy the book when i know full well Steve will be back. i always dug Sam so it will be cool to read about him for awhile

that freakin outfit just sorta remind me of BATTLESTAR though!:cwink:

If you're gonna avoid stories just because things will eventually go back to the classic status quo, you may as well give up on Marvel and DC's comics completely.

i am going to buy this!I bought Kyle! i bought Wally! i brought Dick!I even bought that chick who took over for T'challa(i probably shouldnt have done that one hehe) i aint buying that these guys will take over for the Main Men themselves!:cwink:

I think they said that Ian, Zola's son, will be taking over the Nomad name when he arrives on Earth so we'll get at least one Zola taking over a former namesake of Rogers'.

Oh, that weird Spawn chick. Meh.

Well yes.
Eep, thanks
Sorry I didn't see Anubis saying that before I asked

Fitting :hehe:
[blackout]Just don't say his special attack name[/blackout] :ninja:

I wouldn't have a problem with Sam as Captain America if Bucky were still dead and if they didn't pull stunt in recent memory. Steve's only been back as Captain America for three years and they're replacing him.....AGAIN.

He might be the first character to get replaced twice in 10 years
There is a possible room for a third time

Sorry if I missed in the thread, I scrolled through quickly. Is there a reason why Sam is taking over for Steve?

Steve fought a villain called The Iron Nail that drained him of the Super Soldier Serum. He's now an old man....again.

You think they'd just have a bunch of it on hand considering that it's not the first time that happened and it only really works on him. Just have him have a few dozen bags of his own blood on hand and pump it back in him. He'll be fine.

I think he's trying to talk about the test subjects that came before Steve got his.

Yeah, the first Cap was Black....and now he's like 90 years old with the body of a super healty 40 year old, and the mind of a five year old. :(

That's what I did.

I'm not crazy about a bunch of the Marvel stuff now but I can't even bring myself to read pretty much anything from DCs 52. Marvel has its ups and downs but as least they keep their history.

Poor old Isaiah Bradley :csad:

Speaking of the Bradley family where is Patriot at?

I've not heard or seen Eli since Gillen decided he didn't want him in his Young Avengers book.

Perhaps they could team Patriot up with Falcon Cap.
