People always say how something was so boring that they fell asleep, or that it was so bad that they fell asleep (movies in particular)

I have never fallen asleep while watching a movie or sitting in class... Or while doing anything other than trying to sleep.

Why is it so hard for people to stay awake?

fell asleep driving..not safe kids

For me it's because my bedroom is small and I have no chair, so when I'm playing a game or watching a movie I'm laying in bed. That makes falling asleep pretty easy.....despite the fact that I can't get to sleep when I actually want to. :(

I can't sleep in a chair. Therefor, I pay attention.

Haha. Me too. Naps are way awesome. :woot:

I actually sleep better in my computer chair than in my bed. I feel more refreshed for some reason

I'm waiting for the smart aleck to say they fell asleep during sex.

I fell asleep during our Hewitt Packard training class today. I caught my head nodding and bounced back up again. Then it happened two more times.

...They don't get enough sleep?

Amazing, I know.

I've fallen asleep while driving, getting a tattoo, classes, as well as the normal stuff like watching TV. If you consistently get half as much (or less) sleep than you need, for weeks or months at a time, your body starts shutting down whenever it wants.

I can't fall asleep during class. It's weird.

I've tried, but I just can't!

People have tolerance levles to things they find boring. Some things can be so intolerable that they erode the awake and aware factor. This often includes dry lectures about WW1. I'm assuming you are so against becoming one of the sleepers or that you actually find things like WW1 and other things deemed intolerable, enjoyable.

If someone is lecturing about something you enjoy, you'll stay awake.

I've fallen asleep during lectures about things I enjoy. It was just sitting in one place for an extended period of time.

I just don't see how you can fall asleep without wanting to.

Last year I worked as a security guard who sat in a car for 8 hour shifts basically doing nothing. And on two occasions I worked my 8 hour shift from 4-midnight and then got stuck there without warning for another 8 hour shift from midnight to 8. Now this is a job where I honestly did nothing but stare at a fence, and no **** I was tired but I never fell asleep (Which plenty of other guards did)

My biggest deal is with people who fall asleep during a movie. No not a late night movie on FX that you watch while your half asleep already. I'm talking the people who are like "Yeah I bought that movie but fell asleep while watching it like 5 times."

How are you so not in control of your body that you fall asleep when you don't want to?

I can fall asleep almost anywhere, but then again I'm narcoleptic :P jk

Why do you care so much?

Why do you care so much?

He wants in on the fun.

Seriously, people fall asleep because they're not getting enough sleep, they're fatigued, slightly narcoleptic--the body does these things. So you don't fall asleep during regular activities, oh goody. It can go either way. How can you stay awake during mundane, repetative daily activities?
