I recently started Security work for the summer. And I've been trying to rack my brain around any job less needed than mine.
I 'secure' a distribution center, so trucks come in and out, with or without a full trailer. Recently (before I was hired) a truck was stolen from the back gate (A gate which was never used in the first place). So they now post a guard at the back gate in order to make sure no mischief is afoot.
The gate is shut, padlocked, with three full sized truck trailers sitting directly infront of it, to prevent any issues. My job is to sit in my car, infront of these trailers, for 8 hours, and report any problems... Of which there are none, infact theres not really any activity inside the gate, let alone out.
So I sit in my car for 8 hours, reporting in by radio every 15 minutes to just say "checking in." And doing everything I can to not fall asleep.
I'm paid 10 dollars an hour to stay awake. (Not that I'm complaining. It's perfect)
Anyone have a more useless job?
