I recently started Security work for the summer. And I've been trying to rack my brain around any job less needed than mine.

I 'secure' a distribution center, so trucks come in and out, with or without a full trailer. Recently (before I was hired) a truck was stolen from the back gate (A gate which was never used in the first place). So they now post a guard at the back gate in order to make sure no mischief is afoot.

The gate is shut, padlocked, with three full sized truck trailers sitting directly infront of it, to prevent any issues. My job is to sit in my car, infront of these trailers, for 8 hours, and report any problems... Of which there are none, infact theres not really any activity inside the gate, let alone out.

So I sit in my car for 8 hours, reporting in by radio every 15 minutes to just say "checking in." And doing everything I can to not fall asleep.

I'm paid 10 dollars an hour to stay awake. (Not that I'm complaining. It's perfect)

Anyone have a more useless job?

Mine isn't quite as useless, but I scan slides.

I play a Millionaire at Parties.

At least I'd like to. :(

Being an extra in movies. Travel somewhat long distances. About $7 an hour for standing around looking pretty for 12 hours or more. It's fun...in someways. I need a real job lol

I work network admin duties...security...access management for a high tech company on assignment for an oil company.

Can be tiring at times when I have to contact people overseas who I barely can understand.

Middle Management...

...most useless job ever... though the medical benefits are the only thing keeping me...

Yes it sucks twice.

Don't edit that. It deserves two posts of suckage.

You're getting paid 10 dollars an hour to sit there and do nothing yet you complain!? Jeese!!!!! Are you that dumb? I'd love a job like that!!!

i used to work in a Newspaper Mailroom putting together inserts and fliers to be put inside the cover of the local newspaper. I was on my feet, leaning over tables way to short for me, scragging my back and wrecking my feet standing on hard concrete just to put in Price Chopper or P&C flyers, sometimes working 9 hours a day in blistering heat or freezing cold. It was the singular worst job I've ever had! And all i made was $5.25 an hour, barely enough to live on. To this day I still have feelings of hatred whhen I think of that horrible job. it got so bad that on a Saturday I just grabbed my things I left there like a tint fan to cool myself off, and never went back.
