Sci-Fi Fallout | Amazon Prime

Oooohhh. Fun.
And yeah, not surprised they loved a series based on a nuclear apocalypse then, and hated the ones that incorporated the 50's US aesthetic
Gross. I didn’t always agree with Boose’s takes on movies and such (and you can even see that by going back through this thread) but I had no idea he was a Putin cultist. Good riddance.

Unfortunately. His posts are still there to read, in case you guys are curious. Way too many for me to post. I don’t think my opinion of someone on this message board has dropped harder and faster than that person.

Anyways, back to the main topic.

Filming in New York. A comment on r/StarWarsLeaks mentioned they built The Volume on one of the soundstages.

Also doing some filming in Montana.

Blue Vault-Tec suits? Check. Power armor? Check.

Getting really excited for this.

Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell were filming in Africa.

Still not sure how I feel about Walton Goggins (presumably) being covered in Ghoul makeup for this show. Almost seems like it could be a waste of his talent. But we’ll see. I really hope this show is good.

Has there been any word on which game(s) they are basing this on/building from?

Not to my knowledge but judging by what little info has come out, I’m guessing it’s a new story that’s not based directly on any one game but with the standard “vault dweller emerges and discovers a post-apocalyptic world” setting. Apparently Walton Goggins is playing a character known as “The Ghoul.” Although there are plenty of Ghouls in the games, I don’t recall a character specifically referred to as THE Ghoul.

I see, thanks for that. Hopefully it’s a good show and can help boost the profile of the games further, and also push announcements for Fallout 5 and NV2. :cwink:

Yeah, I hope so. And if it does well, then hopefully it will give Bethesda and Microsoft the confidence to pull the trigger on an Elder Scrolls series. That’s the goldmine if they can get it right.

Oh yes, I need that even more than this! I’m a fantasy buff first. Looks like a lot of things at stake here!

Bethesda's Fallout TV Show Boss Shares Details That Might Get Gamers Riled Up

Bethesda’s Todd Howard recently told Lex Fridman that the series will be set in the same world as the games, but will tell a new story.

He explained…

I don't want to spoil, but when people see it, I think they'll just be like, ‘Wow.’ The other thing, we're approaching it, is very different where when people would say they wanted to make a movie, they wanted to tell the story of Fallout 3 or then tell the story of Fallout 4. And for this it was, ‘Hey, let’s do something that exists in the world of Fallout. It’s not retelling a game story. It’s basically an area of the map, and let’s tell a story here that fits in the world that we have built, doesn’t break any of the rules, can reference things in the games, but isn’t a retelling of the games. It exists in the same world, but is its own unique thing, so it adds to it while also, people who haven’t played the games, who can’t experience how crazy cool Fallout is, can watch the series.
