I liked it! i liked the 1st still way more ,but it was good!
the humor in some places rankled me a bit like erik selvig not having any pants on!or dude hanging his Miljonir up like car keys! come on now!
i also thought Malekith was a much better villain than that stupid Mandarin stuff in IM3! overall i would see it again

Saw it again, and I liked it even more. Without the Darcy and Selvig moments, this is easily a 9 for me

Agreed. I really don't know what problem people had with him. He was much better than any of Ironman's villains thats for sure.

That's not saying much....

And I disagree. Justin Hammer >>> all other MCU villains.

Justin Hammer was a tool.

The only villainy thing about him is that he's super annoying.

Justin Hammer <<<<

Nothing about that movie was good.

Big Thor has nothing to worry about..He is going to love it...
Have to say the Viking funeral gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes......

So far, I think Loki is the best villain in the MCU but Malekith is the most powerful.:woot:

Could've done without Selvig honestly. The Stonehenge scene was just there for comic relief and nothing more. Reminded me of something out of Transformers.

I think I laughed harder than I should've at the Selvig scenes. LOL!

:lmao:I found it hilarious when Darcy's intern screamed like a little girl during the final battle..

I agree with you. I was laughing so much at those scenes.:funny:

And the part they were teleported whilst making out xD oh God, I wanna see this movie again. Just pure entertainment. Make mine Marvel.!!:D

- Asgard was astoundingly beautiful up close. That snowy celebration scene capped off with Thor's quick conversation with Sif was especially breath taking. The general design was superb. Really digging the throne room redesign as well.

- The funeral scene. Incredibly beautiful and emotional.

- Soundtrack. I really enjoyed the music in this film and felt that it extenuated the scenes nicely.

- The acting (for the most part). Thor, Loki, Malekith (for what little he had to work with), Algrim, Odin, Frigga, Selvig, even Jane...all were well acted. However, Hiddleston's performance was undoubtedly a step above the rest even when the rest were very good. An incredible actor. Darcy wasn't terrible, but...meh.

- The Dark Elf designs. I dug em. Wish we could have at least gotten a glimpse behind one of the foot soldier's masks, though.

- The action. Excellent fights, chase scenes, etc. throughout the film. I especially liked Mjolnir's abrupt changes in direction as it raced to meet with Thor as he teleported around the realms during the final battle with Malekith. Very cool.

Dislikes

- Malekith's lack of interesting dialogue, fleshed-out backstory, and palpable motivation. This was probably my biggest beef. That creepy, quiet, staring villain thing only works if we relate to their motivation. A charismatic, sharp-tongued, quick-witted villain can operate well without clear motivation.

- London. Sorry. It's gray and brown and uninteresting. That's just kind of how I've always felt about London in films. It just looks drab.

- Svartalfheim. I know they spent a lot of time trumpeting the fact that this was a real location and it was grand and sweeping and beautiful. ...it was brown. And dusty. With the exception of Asgard and Vanaheim, all of the environments in this movie were dull. :(

- Jane and Thor's relationship. Or lack thereof. I was really hoping it wouldn't feel so forced this time around...but it did. I'm just not sold. There was more romantic tension in Sif's thirty-second conversation with Thor than there has been in two entire movies for Thor and Jane.

- Meow meow. I was actually enjoying Darcy (and the majority of the humor in the film) up until that moment. My face literally contorted when I heard it. It was just tolerable in the first film. To rehash it was just...ugh.

- Eric's "portal" spears. Honestly, I can overlook this and it's really not a problem for me...but it felt worth mentioning. Like, seriously...what the what?

7/10...for now. I really feel like I need to see it again to properly gauge my feelings on it, so that score could certainly go up.

Just got back from the movie. It was a solid fun action movie. However, I wish the story & villain were a bit stronger, but I guess they're saving that for Thor 3 (Surtur please!). I'm not some super Loki fan, but he definitely stole the show in this movie; he was a cheeky bastard the whole film & I loved it.

I walked out of Iron Man 3 with really mixed feelings, I walked out of Thor: TDW pleased with the movie.

8/10

Bring on Thor 3! Hopefully a certain horse-faced warrior will fight alongside the God of Thunder next time. :D

Caught the film today. I think it was very very dull for the most part. And the constant cross cutting to earth high-lighted the kinda really preposterousness of Asgard. People standing in what are clearly manufactured fantasy costumes and in locations which are clearly sets, it does not feel lived in at all. It worked best when Thor was on earth.

I think these sort of things can only ever be played for laughs, when played straight (as they are on Asgard), they are just ludicrous.

The one good thing I can say about the movie is that while the entire film leading up to the finale is really dull, the finale itself is dazzling and beautiful inventive. Love the ending with the constant cross cutting between all the worlds. It was brilliantly conceived and executed. Shame about the rest of the movie though, duller than dull.

I think my fave comedic moment was when Mjolnir flies by Darcy and she calls it what she called it from the first film "Meowmer" or whatever she says. Had me LMAO!

EDIT: And why is the poll closed when this literally just debuted in the US? Confusing...

The poor reviews annoy me so much more because they were similar issues a lot of people had with the last one:
-Too much Earth
-Movie was too short
-Too many gags
-Quickly dispatched Big scary villain guy
Why didn't they learn and fix what was wrong??

It bothers me that Marvel seems to have the least confidence in Thor out of the Big 3, I think that's why I get annoyed at all the Loki love too. Like, give Thor the great moments, give him the extra scenes, give him the good lines, and above all, give his films the time they need to develop

I dunno, I had a big long rant in my head about this yesterday, but I forget my other points now

are you freking serious? Is it really so hard to have polls open indefinitely?

Whatever. I liked the film. Better than the original Thor (which is not nearly my favorite). And the common complaints (humor, Malekith's development) didn't bother me in the slightest. People clamored for more Loki. We got more Loki. In my opinion, this was a good thing. My gripe would be that the movie did feel too short. How come Peter Jackson can make 3 hour films all day long, but Marvel can't swing 2.5 hours to save their life?

Anyway, I've given up rating them on a number scale (because almost every MCU film is 8/10 for me). But here's my up to date scale:

Avengers
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man
Thor:TDW/Captain America:TFA
Iron Man 2/Iron Man 3
Thor

As for the spoilery stuff:
Aether infused Jane Foster gave me strong feelings of Amora. Super powerful pretty dame with black eyes. I think there's something there. Perhaps the power of the Aether survived in her. Just a thought.

Anyway, the Collector scene was really awkward. Not bad awkward. Just awkward awkward. Must be a taste of GotG.

The Loki death was quite short-lived. 3-4 minutes later we see him stand up as the Asgard guard. Oh well. I wonder where Odin's at.

I think the earth stuff is the best part of the movie.
Length was not short, infact the movie dragged a lot in the first half.
Hemsworth was almost a supporting character in the first half, he seemed to get little footage amongst this entire barrage of characters. The Thor movies have to juggle thrice the no. of characters than even the Avengers.

1. The movie wasn't too short
2. Earth had 10 total minutes at maximum
3. The villain wasn't quickly dispatched. The fights between Thor and the villains were the most creative out of all the CBM films this year.

 I don't know how people can say the villain was dispatched too quickly. He was there at the beginning of the movie and was there until almost the very end.

well the thor/malekith fight is getting props, but a lot of people said the thor/kurse fight was too brief (and I wasn't referring to them being in the whole movie, just the fights)
also, earth has plenty of time, even if it only adds up to 10 minutes (doubtful), I'd have been content with only a brief intro on earth, then go to asgard for good
and, maaaany of the poor reviews said it felt rushed/underdeveloped and have mentioned the surprisingly short runtime
if they managed to make it short AND drag, then that's even worse

I thought the same thing about Jane.

They can always use what the Aether did to her physically if they choose to. I guess it could be as simple as Malekith taking it out of her but it would be interesting if there were some sort of ramifications. Her eyes were very cool when black and then the bluish ones like the dark elves.

The audience I was with both times laughed more at the Earth scenes than anything else.

After I saw it the second time, I actually liked it more. I really enjoyed the final battle.

It was alright, much better than the first, answered all my complaints with the first. Put more Asgard, flesh out the secondary characters, more action etc The villains were weak, I'm not interested in another cgi bad guy, blowing things up, that isn't a compelling villain, especially when you shaft someone with more geek cred than any Avenger in Eccleston. Loki of course stole the whole show, and you could tell the film felt quite plodding and dull when he wasn't around.

Overall a much safer film than iron man 3, and in turn somewhat more generally satisfying and simple. I enjoyed it and I'm glad to say I've finally seen a good Thor movie, now let's hope the Winter Soldier can do the same and give me a cap movie i can appreciate. So far phase 2 is kicking phase 1's ass.
