What space hammer? Lol

remember when [BLACKOUT]malekith forces mjolnir to teleport away from Thor and how it immediately just boosts of in comet speed towards Thor, once Thor is in different realm. [/BLACKOUT]

The mid-credit scene, I dig it. I adored Sif and Volstagg's reaction. The final scene however I feel should have ended the film before the credits.

I agree. I liked the GOTG teaser. When I saw the post-credits scene, I was like "....that was it? They could've put that in the film."

I think they (probably correctly) decided that it would kind of undermine the ending of the throne room scene.

Malekith isn't a very developed villain, but I don't think the one from the comics is either; he's a classic myth villain. He wants to destroy the universe, because that's the sort of thing a Dark Elf instinctively wants to do.

The film has great action, terrific design, and effective humour. It also probably has a few too many supporting characters, but that's nothing new. It's also a bit unfortunate that [BLACKOUT]Frigga[/BLACKOUT] was in the first movie so little, because the biggest emotional aspect of the film would work better if that had been the case.

Also, Sir Anthony seemed kind of bored to me.

This movie was an opportunity to IMPROVE on the comics and give him some more development and motivation. Maybe cut out some of the comedy to develop some of the characters, like Malekith. Sif and the Warriors 3 got the shaft again as well.

Thor has other "complex" villains, but that's clearly not what they were going for here. I think the could have given Malekith more interesting mannerisms, etc., but wanting to destroy the universe and return the world to chaos and darkness isn't really a motivation that can be given much shading. He's not Magneto.

They could have at least given him some kind of reasoning that was understandable.

The universe used to be like that, and he prefers it that way. That's perfectly understandable. He's every comic book fan who wants things to be like they were when he was reading as a teenager.

It's not relatable at all. If he prefers the old universe they could show links to it, such as flashbacks to the tranquility and love of the old universe, or maybe some artefacts that he holds on to.

They did not do this, the closest was showing us the red smoke of the aether, I'm really tired of comic book movies, lazy imagination, and coloured smoke.

If they want to make more than 4 or 5 million at the box office they need to appeal who have never read a Thor comic.

The universe before was "darkness", so flashbacks would have been a bit difficult.

I don't know what you think that has to do with what I said.

How convenient lol.

And I'm actually laughing.

If all he wants is a meaningless "darkness", then he should just commit suicide. If "the darkness" is to be more interesting, then show it. If it's not, then use another character for the movie.

 People really need to pay attention in these movies. Malekith's motivations are not that different from Zod's in MOS.:whatever:

For what was needed, Malekith was the perfect villain.

Malekith was pure evil and had no soul. Thus, no depth. Being a hate-filled bitter Nolanite, you should be able to relate to a character with no soul.

I have a solution for you. If you don't like CBMs, simply don't watch them.:o It's not that hard really.:D

Enjoyed it. Loved the massive scope and budget Marvel splashed out on this, and Taylor did a fantastic job with the CGI and action scenes.

The thing is, there's almost too much humor. It threatens to overwhelm the story stakes -- but not enough to overrun. I had a FUN time with it... certainly much better than the first. And as expected, Tom Hiddleston and Kat Dennings stole the show. They were hilarious.

Oh, and I hated that first post-credit scene. They should've kept that for Guardians of the Galaxy, and pretty obvious Taylor didn't direct it. The second one made up for it, though.

Well, I don't mind the humor in this. It's why I like these movies, they are a fun romp and not depressing. With that aside, agree with you on Hiddleston and Dennings stealing the show. I really would have loved to see their two characters in the same room, bouncing off sarcastic phrases at eachother. I'd like them to ditch the Jane character and just keep Kat, she's not boring or dull like Jane is.

Zod had more motivations, and his motivations were explained. They were built up decently. They may have the same motivations, but Zod's motivations are shown and explained and explored. He wants to rebuild Krypton, where we saw some sort of Krypton exist. He doesn't want to bring back "the darkness".

BTW -- I resent the idea that I should labour to pay attention like it's some sort of university lecture. Good movies get my attention with no effort from my part.

Never really post here. Im a big Superman fan.

I loved the new Thor film. I had a lot of fun. A lot of crazy twists that fooled me many times.

I enjoyed it better than the first Thor. Awesome film.

He wants to bring back darkness because he likes living in it. After all, he IS a Dark Elf remember?:whatever: How is any of this difficult to comprehend?

I like a lot of the better ones. For example, of the 10 with the highest critical assessments, I like 7. (I Might also like Hellboy 2 and X2 but it's been too long).

Dark Knight, 94%, 288 reviews
Spider Man 2, 94%, 248 reviews
Iron Man, 93%, 243 reviews
The Avengers, 92%, 301 reviews
Spider Man, 89%, 224 reviews
Dark Knight Rises, 88%, 304 reviews
X Men: First Class, 87%, 243 reviews
X Men 2, 87%, 224 reviews
Hellboy 2, 87%, 209 reviews
Batman Begins, 85%, 265 reviews

I also own several of these and others in my DVD+Bluray collection.

Didn't you just say you were tired of CBMs a few minutes ago?

The poll is closed...good grief.
8/10....probably 8.5

I know, why is the freaking poll already closed? This is BS because here in Florida, the movie just came out TODAY! What the hell moderators?

Simply stating that isn't necessarily interesting in and of itself. You'll notice that the weakness of the villain is a general complaint, it's not a particular idiosyncratic complaint coming from me alone.

Have you read Thor comics or materials before? If you had you might have been willing to accept more, as you would already be invested in the characters, possibly including the Dark Elves.

You can't just point the finger at a viewer and state "you need to care, you need to care"... you have to make the viewer care. That means make Malakith interesting.

It's a specific reference to Thor 2, Green Lantern, and Fantastic Four 2. I thought that coloured smoke was dead after Green Lantern, where everybody mocked it, but they brought it back here.

I'm sorry I didn't specify that I meant those 3 movies, I thought it was obvious... "coloured smoke".
