See this is why I always had a hard time believing in the reshoots being that extensive, if the movie is 1hour 40 minutes long, what did they truly need to add?

Oh my god.

Reshoots aren't JUST about adding things.

They're also about CHANGING things.

Things could have been CHANGED.

Jesus.

Not to mention that they could have cut out a lot of old footage as well.

Imagine I give you copy of Showgirls and tell you to make something better out of it.

You're not just going to add on to what you have. You're going to have to start by cutting a whole lot out and then try to figure out how you can paste something in there to make the damn thing somewhat watchable.

You could end up with an hour worth of vaguely watchable film.

Paul Verhoeven's showgirls is a glorious exploitation movie and i wouldn't touch a frame! ;)

But the mere thought that the reshoots deleted stuff and just added (assuming) action scenes like the tank scene and whatnot makes me a Sad panda.

Hmm seems that the embargo is now been shifted so some will come out on the Wednesday night.

Embargo change: It now lifts a day earlier. Wednesday, August 5 at 6pm PST.

Fox probably saw the extreme reaction to their same-day-release embargo and thought WHOOPS, NOW EVERYONE KNOWS IT'S TERRIBLE AND WE'S NOT GON GIT NO MONEY!!

Fox just can't stand by any decision they make when it comes to this film can they?

Well you have to remember we are relying on 2nd hand information from twitter people.

Yep. A whole day.

Such confidence.

Lol. Maybe they checked out the lists posted here of late shows and figured association with that lot wasn't such a great idea....

Not sure a day is gonna make much of a difference at this point.

It won't. The damage has been done and the embargo still isn't lifted until a day AFTER.

Might as well have just stuck to their first decision. It makes zero difference now.

:funny: I think I'm finally starting to understand you and your love for goat-legged Doom.:cwink:

At least one report from an extra is that he was wearing a spacesuit, so at least some of the reshoots are related to the first mission.

It's probably a lot of things like: "there wasn't enough drama and tension when you lost Doom. We want the audience to clearly see that you were doing everything you could to save him, but we also want the audience to see that he thinks it was your fault."

I suspect there were many little elements that didn't work when they did the first rough cut so they did what they could to make a more compelling, cohesive story.

I have helped many other writers edit books they're working on and I often find 'structural problems' with their story. Some paragraphs have to be rewritten. Some have to be trashed and some new paragraphs have to be added. It can take some time and effort even when you're just typing words on a computer. When physical sets and actors are involved, I'm sure it's much more difficult, but the basic goal of making the story work better is the same.

In one of the Midnight's Edge videos they mention something (that they said came from the Deadline Hollywood forum even though I didn't think it had one so they could have meant a comment someone made or something) that we never caught here. Anyway they say that there were supposed to have been two rounds of reshoots, the first was to add action but that it didn't blend with the old content so they had to do a second round to add stuff to help it all fit together better.

A new viral video for the upcoming "Fantastic Four" film reveals a presentation from the Department of Defense, which aims to convince its viewers to continue funding the Quantum Gate project that gave Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm their powers so that the government can analyze and militarize super abilities.

Though the name of the presenter is never given, his voice sounds as though it belongs to Tim Blake Nelson, who will play Harvey Elder (aka Mole Man) in the film. With the tagline "From Tragedy Comes Opportunity," the presenter goes through each of the four's unique abilities and the way it could be utilized by the military. Additionally, the video explains just why Ben Grimm isn't wearing any pants in this version of the Fantastic Four.

This is all leading up to Fantastic Four being team Iron Man for Civil War. ;)

Just ignore him. At this point he's either trying to get a rise, or is just to far in denial.

Reshoots doesn't only mean "adding new stuff to the existing footage". After primary filming is completed and the footage is put together in a rough draft....then you can see if it is going together smoothly, or if there are problems. There have been movies in the past that were extensively reworked with major new scenes shot to replace things that didn't work. In the case of an EXORCIST prequel a few years back....after the movie was finished and looked at, they scrapped the entire movie and shot a new one with mostly different actors and a different director. And ironically, when that movie failed at the boxoffice, the studio then paid to release the original movie they shot (which also bombed) and went to quick video release.

I think the video neatly sums up much of what is wrong with this film and its approach. Assets, not astronauts. The Invisible Woman's stealth capabilities etc. The military angle is just so wrong for F4 imo. This just feels like a more modern Wolverine Origins. They couldn't be more ashamed of the property they're adapting.

It's inspired from the Ultimate Marvel comics and one of the things that personally interest me, but it might be that they're pulling the same ending Ultimates 2 and Avengers the movie had where the team sets to do their own thing without the government's back up.

It really is.

So much for the "science and exploration" stuff.

The only thing that would give me hope is the embargo being lifted on Monday or Tuesday.
