Fantastic Four Reboot

I wonder...if anyone tries to reboot F4, how much better would it actually be?

Doesn't that depend on who does it? If they sink the same kind of energy into they did Iron Man, it should be pretty cool.

Well, I think the context and the story to Iron Man had more potential to be theatrically special, but the F4 story and characters are so out-of-this world and exaggerated, I fear that this remake is going to miss some of the *few things that the first two movies got right.

Really? I always thought they had more of the best of both worlds. They have all the fantastical stuff that makes awesome movies awesome, and the characters themselves, aside from Reed's ubergenius, don't seem exaggerated to me, and they certainly aren't too far fetched to be thoroughly grounded, should the writer decide.

I think Iron Man is easier to do in live action, the fantastical stuff in the FF, to do it right, would cost a lot of money and would be hard to do in a serious live action block buster.

After more thinking about this,I feel somewhat more optimistic, even though it is too soon.

1. Despite Fox's main track record, this could be good.

2. If Fox is just all talk, then the rights will very hopefully go back to Marvel with them intending on doing their take somewhere down the road.

I think mathew vaughn should direct it, and the only casting I have is, maybe cam giganet (or whatever his name is) as johnny, and viggo mortenson as victor von doom.

I am hearing from pals in Vancouver that Fox is in the early stages of prepping the next FF up there...

A lot of you guys seem to think Reed is much older than I do. I always figured Reed was about 30-35 in the origins story, and is now about 15 years older...which means casting 60 year old Liam Neeson is absurd.

I see reed as 40-ish. And ben, at around 35.
Sue at around 30, and johnny at 25 or so.

Ben is older than Reed. Reed graduated High School well ahead of schedule, and was in college the same time as Ben. Ben is about 2 years older than Reed and Doom.

Sue was 19-20 in F4 #1 (sophomore in college) and Johnny was 16. Given it's been about 13 years in Marvel continuity since F4 #1, Sue is in her early 30s, and Johnny is pushing 30 (probably 29). I always figured Reed about 10 years older than Sue, Doom the same age as Reed, and Ben two years older.

Sooo:

Reed Richards: 30 (F4#1), 43 (today)
Ben Grimm: 32 (F4#1), 45 (today)
Sue Richards: 20 (F4#1), 33 (today)
Johnny Storm: 16 (F4#1), 29 (today)

Remember Reed Richards was in WWII [he's in an issue of Sgt. Fury] and FF #1 was 16 years after the end of WWII, so that would put Reed in his mid 30's at the youngest, more likely early 40's. Same with Ben and Doom.

Only absurd if he looks 60, guy.

OK! I got an idea!

Stay tuned!

Just curious, have any of you seen Roger Corman's F4 movie? I'm sure it's horrible but I was just wondering if any of you thought it was better than the Tim Story films. I haven't seen it, myself, though I'd like to. I still feel sorry for the actors, who all got duped into thinking that it was going to be released.

I tried to watch a bad boot leg of it, but could not sit through it - in part due to the bad quality of the copy, in part due to the bad quality of the movie...stick with the Fox version - for now...

Saw a bootlegged trailer of it once. At least Rebecca Staab looked like Sue's supposed to look.

Reed Richards-Billy Crudup
Sue Storm-Richards-Elizabeth Banks
Johnny Storm-Chace Crawford
Ben Grimm-Karl Urban or JDM(Perfect Hercules though)

Billy Crudup would be great but I think he's going to stay far away from comic films now. Especially one that's a reboot of a barely alive franchise.

That Jon Hamm that some were suggesting for Captain America would make a better Reed - at least he's closer to Reed's age that Steve R's!

He has to be SOME superhero down the line. His voice and look just can't go to waste :(

Definitely! As long as they keep the future marvel movies at the same basic level as Iron Man, They'll all kick serious ass for certain
