Bit weird, can't see a thread for this on the search. Are people not too interested in it? Pls merge if there is already a thread.

Far Cry 3 Stranded Trailer Shows Big Trouble in Paradise

Having been leaked earlier today and taken down everywhere on YouTube, Ubisoft has cut its losses and decided to go live with the new CG trailer for Far Cry 3. If you haven't seen it yet, it's simply fantastic, showing how the game's protagonist got himself mixed up with crazed mercenaries.
Mr. Shouty Madman makes a comeback from the initial videos released for Far Cry 3 too, getting possibly even more unhinged, sweary and shouty in this new trailer. As tropical islands go, Far Cry 3's one is worth steering clear of, we'd say. And if you see an AK47 lying around, don't touch it.
Check out the video below, then prepare to be stranded in paradise when Far Cry 3 launches on September 7th, 2012.

Yea i could of sworn there was a thread. Ah well.

Im SUPER stoked for FC3 tho. I LOVED Far Cry 2, even with its problems. Im pretty interested in this setting, altho I'm really gonna miss the Africa location from the last game.

I wonder if they'll explain the lead character at all? I mean they claim he's an "every man" but, i dont know too many "every men" who can toss a blade like he can.

I was actually looking for the thread a couple of days ago but couldn't find it as well.

Do you guys regard this as a AAA game? Certainly looks like one to me on graphics alone. I love the tropical locations.

I felt the last one was, so yea id put it in that category.

I thought Far Cry 2 had some great visuals. Loved how the rays of sun would cut through the foliage as i was sneaking up on an enemy.

Speaking of enemies tho, i hope they dont absorb as much damage as they did in 2. That was ridiculous.

To me "AAA" just means high production values and a lot of marketing, so yes? I guess?

Sounds good. I'll play that before I play 3. Have you played the first one?

Yeah, I guess you're right. To me I would say high production values is exactly what it means without guaranteeing that the game will be great overall. I don't count marketing as in that case Duke Nukem might come into consideration! :wow::cmad:

Yea id deff suggest playing through Far Cry 2. Its really cool. I never played the first game as i wasn't really interested in the series. Hell i wouldn't of played 2, but i picked it up right around the time the 7th season of 24 was out and that had Jack in Africa. That kind of piqued my interest in Far Cry 2 so i picked it up. Was glad i did.

I'm not disappointed or anything, but I wish Far Cry 3 was in Africa as well. I really loved the environments in Far Cry 2.

I did too man.

I mean i like the tropical locale, LOST was in a tropical locale and anything that is the slightest bit like LOST is a-ok in my book, but i really, really loved the Africa setting.

Thanks man, I definitely will. I kind of like playing all the games in a series especially directly one after the other. Want to find out if the 1st one is any good.

It is. But you really don't need to play them all. I'm pretty sure they're not even related in any way other than title and gameplay.

I take that back. When I think of Far Cry, I think of sneaking through jungles and causing chaos for the enemy, but that first game goes off the rails in the middle and becomes significantly less fun.

Far Cry 1 is basically Crysis. Far Cry 2 is Stalker in Africa.
Aside from name they might as well be diffrent games.
Understood. I would prefer they actually called it something else then. I know Prey 2 using the same name as Prey & having nothing to do with it pissed me off, even though the game looks like it might be good in its own right. Also that Final Fantasy Spirits Within film that had nothing to do with the FF universe. :cmad:

What Final Fantasy "universe"? Each game takes place in its own universe.

I mean it didn't use any of the common elements, visual style or storytelling traditions throughout FF games. At least with all the different FF game universes you would still know you are playing a FF game even if it wan't explicitly referenced & ignoring gameplay.

This film could just as easily have been called Mass Effect: Spirits Within or Elder Scrolls: Spirits Within for what relevance it has to FF.

Have Some New Far Cry 3 Screens With Your Trailer
Following up yesterday's barnstorming Far Cry 3 CG trailer, Ubisoft has released a new batch of stunning and lovely screenshots to go with it, showing off the lush tropical island that you'll be spending your time exploring.
It's not just all glittering, clear blue seas, virgin white sands, azure blue skies and emerald greenery though, because there's actually plenty of trouble in paradise too, with explosions, stealthy machete kiliing, AK47s and more.
It's all laid out for you in the ten new screenshots, all of which can be viewed in the gallery. You can take a look at some of the new shots below, then remind yourself why the new CG trailer is so damn good. We've embedded it at the bottom of the page. Far Cry 3 is out on September 7th, 2012.

I started playing Far Cry 2 again, I really am gonna miss the African setting. Can't wait to check this one out tho.

The setting doesn't really bother me, I like colorful shooters.
I hope they adding modding ability this time around, Far Cry 2 could have been tranformed into a brillaint game much like what Stalker Complete done for stalker.

Yea I think the tropical setting will be cool. As iv said before, I'm a huge LOST fan, so any kind of "island" setting generally has my interest

I just really liked the African setting.

Looks fantastic.

Still dont know how a tourist is doing all this tho. Did he recently work for the CIA?

Also....WEAPON SLINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO, SO, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

I like the villain character design and voice work, very good without jumping into cliche' badness you typically get from a video game trying to be gritty. Not sure about the dude bro's acting like *****bags though, generally, those are the people you want dead.
