No Silent Hill 2 for Avary
Source: ShockTillYouDrop.com July 18, 2007

ShockTillYouDrop.com interviewed Silent Hill screenwriter Roger Avary (upcoming Beowulf), who said that he won't be doing a sequel to the video game adaptation since director Christophe Gans is not on board. He also talked about his adaptation of The Nocturnals, based on the spooky Dan Brereton comic book.

:csad: looks like ill never understand the ending to the first movie

it came out two years ago....

i think it was freakin awesome.

Avery's script was the weakest part of the film.

I liked Silent Hill. I thought it was one of the better video game films to have been adapted. Unfortunately it's not saying much when you consider how horrible the other video game films have been.

But I really, really liked it and thought Gans captured the tense atmosphere very well.

Here's hoping Gans returns to it in the future and does a sequel.

yeah the atmosphere is what really made it for me...

i loved both the ashe look and hell look

I thought it was pretty cool, wasnt really bothered about a 2nd one

I agree SH was one of the better adaptions. The set up and look of the film were really good. The ashe and the fog and the look of hell(or was that purgetory?) The only part that I didnt like was the last act where it was like a gore fest almost like they realized the had a blood splatter quota they had to fill. Up to that point the film was really good. Good on Avary for not doing a sequel with just any old director. I hope Gans comes back and does a sequel.

the wife and the daughter were dead. they died in the car accident at the begining of the film. along with the cop.

Wrong.

Silent Hill is split into three parts. Real Silent Hill, Purgatory Silent Hill, and Hell Silent Hill. They're like alternate dimensions, all existing at once. If they died, why wasn't the car found? Because they went into the purgatory dimension of Silent Hill.

I'm happy he mentions the possibility of a Nocturnals movie.

Ah well, the only reason I was looking forward to a sequel was because I was hoping Sean Bean would take center stage this time. :o

silent hill, like all Gans films, starts well and has a good first half and a TERRIBLE AND ATTROCIOUS second half that's not worthwhile.

I love the Silent Hill movie (And not just because i'm a Silent Hill fan). It breaks my heart to know there wont be a sequel. Oh well.

:csad:

They set it up so the sequel could've been more in line with SH2, if I'm thinking about the right game. In that one, the protagonist gets a letter from his dead wife telling him to come to SH, right?

Shame.

Best VG adaption yet.

I never really played the video games always thought it was just a Resident Evil knockoff. I however; really enjoyed the movie. Visually I thought it was very well done, though the overall story was a tad weak. I thought the ending reminded me of a Hellraiser movie(girl in bed with all the barbed wire was Pinhead :)
