Wan did sign a two film contract, so I expect he'll be back for a future one after this.

I wouldn't mind them cast their net towards action directors from the independent scene or from over seas.

Just watched the short film Los Bandoleros, and it's heavily implied that Don cheated on Letty or has in the very least done it before, until she appeared, he was ready to do it again. Seems very out of character for him.

Hopefully they actually try and make his character interesting this time around. I was hoping we'd be done with the Shaw brothers now, but I guess it makes sense. Allows for there to be a continuation that's not completely forced with a story from out of nowhere.

The Shaws are the best villains that we've gotten in this franchise so far (lets face, the bad guys have never been these film's strong suit).

It's a long shot but Carey Fukunaga would be an interesting choice. He directed all of season 1 of True Detective.

I imagine the film will start with him making some big prison escape, not sure how they do something fresh with him though given Dom has already beaten him and he's done the "kill em all" thing in Fast 7.
