Fast 8

I'm so offended by this trailer. I don't know why just yet, but something doesn't feel right. I'll figure it out. I'm gonna #hashtag it yo!

Lawd.

"Family'' was mentioned three times in the first 30 seconds.

Uh, I'm just gonna embrace the ridiculous of it all. I rewatched the first film the other day, and it seems like an indie film compared to these last 3 films.

they spoiled that in the submarine action scene Theron's character tries to kill Toretto right? We knew that in the third act he would be back on the good side but not when and how.

This franchise is reaching parody levels now. So much for going back to basics.

The basics is that they're all low level street racers not internationally wanted terrorists.

Between this and Guardians of the Galaxy, Vin loves his family.

Doms going to use his black shirt as a cocoon to shield the others isn't he?

The idea of turning 100's of cars into drones is so rediculous.

Part 9 will have them all start talking and tie this into knight rider(universal)

That was in the super bowl spot as well. They're not even trying to hide that he's obviously good :funny:
Like everyone is saying, the next one needs to be set in space. It's the only logical step forward.

If they don't do that, then the franchise will have officially jumped the shark :o.

I'm still going to see this, but man these trailers just ain't hitting for me. As much as I loved the over the top action in five and six something about it here feels so empty and this franchise seems to be getting more over the top just for the sake of it. I wasn't a big fan of a lot of the CGI stuff in Furious 7, but atleast this looks to have more practical effects. Also, I'm still not digging what there doing with Charlize Theron's character and why no Helen Mirren?

Someone on the Blu-ray.com forums said that the review embargo for this ends on the day of release. Make of that what you will. The optimist in me hopes it's just to preserve Dom's reasons for going rogue. But if Universal has no faith in the film, I'm really going to be disappointed to see this happen to the franchise.

G-Eazy and Kehlani released a new music video for the film, featuring new bits of footage, but what caught my eye especially was
Deckard Shaw hanging out with everybody at the Toretto family dinner.

That doesn't make any sense! Why would Uni have no faith in this after last movie's success?

Pretty sure it is to preserve Dom's reason for going rogue.

The franchise was supposed to be taking a darker turn. So, if that's a big enough twist for this movie, by all means save it closest to release.

Okay, so I have a bit of a problem with Dom helping Charlize kill and injure what would be hundreds if not thousands of innocent people. I know that this is the series where they dragged a giant safe through the streets or Rio and flipped over a bus full of prisoners with ZERO injuries or casualties but dropping hundreds of cars out of buildings and into the street would result in a massacre, any way you slice it. Whatever Dom's reasons for helping her, I think he's kind of irredeemable after that.

Could be a tentative embargo.

He said that with one month to go. Someone on Box Office Theory said the same thing about John Wick 2 with even less time before release. And that movie's embargo lifted the Monday before it opened.

My theory as to why Dom goes rouge...

Theron threatens Brian and his family. Lets assume that when Brian retired he took his family into hiding and the only person that knows is Dom.

Basicly a simple plot point that doesnt need much screen time.

That actually makes sense. I didn't consider such a possibility.

With the whole Family theme going and

with this movie being made to "honor" Paul's "there will be an 8th film". You could make it about protecting Brian and not even have Brian know he was ever in danger. I mean really what else could make Dom go rouge?

Just food for thought.

^ I think you're forgetting a little gem called Smurfs: The Lost village :o
