I personally think bringing back the original characters, putting them together with the other sequels' best characters, and then putting more attention to the heists, which was the reason Brian was undercover in the first place in part 1 was a smart way to go. (I always look at street racing as a doorway to these characters, which is funny, but they're just likable characters for the most part) At this stage Rob needs Fast and Furious more than Fast and Furious needs Rob. Justin Lin is doing very well.
