I seem to remember seeing some photos taken by a spy on set of a new Bat-Signal. One in which the Bat was silver and incorporated into the glass. I'll see if I can find those.

Yeah, I was thinking about how they'd bring back the bat signal at the end of Batman 3, and it'd be a nice way to end the series (since Nolan probably won't do a fourth movie).

Absolutely agree, it will probably be there earlier alongside a new and improved Batcave and Wayne Manor. We can look forward to a new Batmobile and hopefully a Batwing. There are plenty of reasons to make a third film.

I just totally got this idea for what would be cool: In the next movie, Gordon continues to consult Batman but on a more ad hoc basis (since, y'know, he's supposed to be chasing him), but at one key point of the movie he needs Batman so he grabs a batarang, holds it up to a high-powered flashlight and creates a improvised Bat Signal.

Or maybe he could beat up whoever the latest mob boss is (Zucco? Thorne?) and just strap him to a spotlight.

No. Well, I wasn't serious with the Zucco/Thorne/whoever beat-up part. The high-powered flashlight I was only slightly more serious.

Seriously though i think in the third film (now that Batman's on the run) they'll hold off with the signal until Batman has won back Gotham's trust and i guess we probably won't get to see the signal until the end of the film.In a scene that mirrors the one in BB.

Well, Begins ended with the signal having just been built. TDK ended with it being destroyed. So I think the 3rd film will end with it being rebuilt/reintroduced. To show everything has come full circle. The birth, the death and the rebirth of the Batsignal, if you want to get all Biblical.

The next one is gonna start like Frank Miller's the DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. Batman has been missing for many years...5 or more. The city enjoyed peace and prosperity for awhile...but a new threat will emerge...a threat only Batman can handle.

I actually loved the fact that Batman does not answer the call of the signal very frequently. It's much more a beacon of hope for the city (and fear for the criminals), than an actual mean of sumoning batman.

You know what would be great? A scene where all the people of Gotham start rallying behind Batman and make little mini bat signals with flashlights or lamps and shine them out their windows. It should start with one, someone Batman saved, and it builds throughout the movie, leading to the Mayor telling Gordon to rebuild the signal. That way, it can be the public that resurrects the signal.
