Favorite African-American TV Shows from back in the day?

I've seen most of these shows at one point or another but Fresh Prince and Family Matters I'd consider my faves. The others I watched just to pass the time.

My Brother And Me (obscure cable sitcom that only lasted a season on 90's NICK I think)

Yep, it was a Nick show and only lasted that one season. I never see it mentioned when people talk about old Nick shows. The prank episode was the best.

Lol I went to youtube and looked up My Brother And Me and I vaguely remember it. I know I liked it tho

some shows that need to be put on DVD sets or compilations-- Flip Wilson, That's My Mama, Baby I'm Back, Frank's Place, He's the Mayor, Bustin' Loose..

with all the nostalgia going on for certain shows, i'm surprised that none of them have had attempts to do new versions..

...was there ever a cable TV series or TV-movie in the 90s about a black family who were all wizards?

That's a good question about remakes. To my knowledge, we've only had two big screen black remakes, Shaft (2000) and Fat Albert. I would love to see an update of New Jack City for example. On TV, I wouldn't mind seeing an update of MANTIS, another shot at Blade the Series, A Man Called Hawk, or New York Undercover. Though I think it might be best to just have more shows, with some of the premises, like a Different World, based at a black college, without it having to be a remake. So many of my favorite shows seemed tied to their time periods.

For TV shows I liked I forgot to mention Fat Albert, The Jackson 5 cartoon, Kid N' Play cartoon, Mr. T & the T-Force.

Also, Soul Train and Video Soul (BET); loved host Rachel from Carribean Rhythms, more than the show itself.

Whoever mentioned He's the Mayor, man you went back.

Family Matters

Martin has reruns beginning this upcoming Monday on...I kid you not...MTV2. Mid morning Mon-Fri I think, just google it or check your MTV 2 channel.
I was checking my DirecTV and you're right since they mostly showed on BET which I don't have.

THE GOOD SHOWS
Martin
Family Matters
Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
Diff'rent Strokes
The Cosby Show
Hanging With Mr. Cooper (I liked it more when it was a Three's Company clone)

THE MEDIOCRE SHOWS
The Jaime Foxx Show
The Wayans Bros.
True Colors (early FOX show on sunday nights)
Webster

I was too young to remember shows like Sanford & Son, Goodtimes and The Jeffersons.

Wow! No love for "That's My Mama".

absolute classic favorite of mine was Sanford and Son...

another favorite was M.A.N.T.I.S.

and even though it really wasn't the best, I DID occasionally watch Richard Roundtree in his tv series Shaft, based on his Shaft films...

I love watching Sanford and Son reruns. My dad had it good watching it when it first aired. For me, Martin and Fresh Prince are on the top for me.
