Civil War Favorite Cap costume?

I actually liked the first Avengers costume except for the helmet but it pales in comparison to everything that came after it. The AOU costume is probably my favorite. I don't know where they can go with it for Infinity War, there's not much room for improvement with the aesthetic they've had with the general look of the costume since TWS.

2 words. Scale. Mail.

There was even promo art for it, meaning they definitely worked on it even if it didn't make it into the movie. It's a prime opportunity for Cap to get an upgrade for Infinity War when he becomes Captain America again, especially now that he's bros with T'challa. He'll almost definitely hook up Bucky with a new arm as well.

Scale Mail is aesthetically ugly. I have a CW mug and it has the scale mail and even though I love the overall design of the art work I really wish the scale mail wasn't there.

It's not only overly busy it doesn't make any practical sense in terms of the modern body armor Cap's been wearing.

Although this manip isn't prefect, and seems quite old (i.e pre-Avengers) it does give an idea of how the scales could look, although they should be smaller and less long I think.

I think they could easily incorporate the scales into the aesthetic of the current suits.

I know these aren't great manips, but I think they go a fair way towards showing that the problem with the Avengers suit was from the neck up. I'd love to see what it would look like for real - or at least a much better manip.

I'd say the CW costume is near perfect. It just needed darker red.

I have a soft spot for the TFA costume so that's my second favorite.

Third would be the stealth costume.

Dead last is the Avengers. Dear Lord, it's incredibly it mostly got a pass back then.

^^Wow, you're right lujho. The suit looks great there! A few more tweaks like getting rid of the abdomen thigh zippers and it would look pretty sweet. I'd love for them to give the red gloves/boots another shot.

The problem with the Avengers suit was the lack of scale mail and textures to make it pop for the big screen and not look like a cheap spandex outfit that you'd see on a TV show. And those white stripes on the shoulders were pointless.

Lmao 2 people voted for the TA suit. My fave is the stealth suit in TWS. It doesn't have the iconic red stripes but it's the coolest looking one.

I didn't have an issue with The Avengers outfit when it came out, but Captain America's costumes have definitely gotten better.

AoU suit is my personal favorite, followed by a tie between The First Avenger and Winter Soldier stealth uniform.

My guess is that they're saving it for Infinity War. It seems like they want to give Cap the scale mail, but it didn't really make sense during the events of CW, and it looks like they just lazily changed the texture to scales on his TWS/AOU/CW suit.

I'm hoping he'll get a full new redesign with the scale mail. At the end of CW, he's certainly in the right place to get some sweet new armor.

As for the TA costume...sucks that it turned out so bad, but I still like the idea. It looks really awesome in the concept art. Hope they'll try something similar and do it right in the future. I love the full white sleeves seen here.

Marvel has a history of releasing promo/concept art into the wild (including on merchandise) that doesn't match up with the final costumes. All the art for The Avengers gave Cap an earless cowl that was MUCH better than the final one.

When I was rewatching TWS the other day I realized I love how Cap looks in the stealth suit without the helmet, but for some reason he looks odd with it. I can't quite put my finger on it. I guess it's because it doesn't feel much like a Cap suit, so the helmet seems out of place, but without it, the costume comes together really well as a generic spy suit.

The Avengers was perfect! That was Ultimate Cap 100%. I don't know why they insisted on sticking with the World War II costume. I'm not a fan of the straps or the brown gloves.

I love the Super Soldier costume. That is a close second for me.

The Avengers Cap suit is one of the worst live action big screen superhero costumes in existence. Totally embarrassing eye sore through out that film. Goofy looking. No texture. Cheap looking. How it got on screen is absurd.
