I really like Spacey's Kex, I really think the hate comes down to redoing the land plot. Spacey's Lex was brilliant IMO, funny when the film called for it but damn right menacing when the film called for that. He might be my favourite part of Superman Returns tbh (well aside from the plane sequence, no scene in any films topped that for me).

I still love SR and still love Spaceys Lex, yes the land plot was a repeat but his Lex was really menacing when he needed to be.

So much for free speech.

So you think it's ok to allow insults to be thrown around because people are entitled to free speech?

Read the forum rules. No half way decent message board allows that kind of free speech. Its trolling.

We don't need this board to turn into IMDB or the Youtube comments section.

Agreed, Returns gets so much crap, i dont think its as bad as everyone says, i think its a pretty decent film.

It's one of the few movies to ever actually put me to sleep. There's literally just two and a half hours of absolutely nothing.

And ironically, it has the worst live action renditions of Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor all cozied together.

I loved Eisenberg. By far my favorite even though Hackman was wonderful in the campy superman flicks. I know a lot of comic fans didn't like the characterization but being that I didn't care what version of Lex we were going to get( im not a comic reader, just a lover of this film) I was really impressed.

My favorites are Sherman Howard, Michael Rosenbaum, Kevin Spacey, and Gene Hackman.

Sherman Howard is very underrated. Howard was Luthor from Superboy from seasons 2-4. Most of the best shows of Superboy involved Howard's Luthor.
He also did the voice of Derek Powers/ Blight on Batman Beyond to kinda give you idea the kind of Lex he portrayed. You can see some shades of Lex in the Derek Powers character,.

Agreed, he was a great Lex Luthor. I think what maybe harms him is that Superboy isn't aswell known as other Superman TV shows.

I voted for Shea. The show was campy yes, but it's portrayal of Lex - as a brilliant, charming self-made billionaire that is highly beloved throughout Metropolis, but Superman sees through his act - was the closest adaptation to my favorite version from the comics I've seen yet. You could see why he'd think he was a god until Superman came along.

One of my favourite scenes in the entire series was when he had Superman locked up in the Kryptonite cage in the season one finale. It was just so Lex Luthor.

Staring out a cobra in the pilot was abit much though :woot:

LOL yes, they gave him more than a few of those OTT moments.

But I too loved that bit in the S1 finale. It was like he couldn't really be happy on his own wedding day without also relishing in crushing his greatest enemy as well.

Still kinda like that Cobra scene though :woot:

Yeah it was brilliant, I still love that first season of L&C and it's mostly down the Lex-Superman stuff.

Agreed. I mean, I really enjoyed Cain's Clark Kent and his dynamic with Hatcher, but yeah, the Supes/Lex dynamic was also one of my favorite aspects of the show.

Oh yeah that too, I honestly think Dean Cain was probably the weakest live action Superman but by far the strongest live action Clark Kent we've had. He was right out of the Byrne era Clark. That was what the show was about aswell and it massively succeeded in that.

On Lex though it's a shame the commute got to much for Shea, I think the show missed him after he left. Even his few appearances in later seasons didn't feel as strong.

100% agreed. He's still my favorite Clark. I loved how he came by his nerdy/goofy/clumsy reputation naturally, just thanks to all his dumb excuses he came up with for whenever he used his powers, without actually having to put on an act.

Yeah, I still enjoyed S2 a lot thanks to the strength of the Clark/Lois arc in it, but there was definitely a void when he left that no other villain ever filled.

I picked Rosenbaum.great version of lex.look even the biggest smallville fans
will admit writing suffered but he was always great.

as for films I go with spacey.remember Superman returns is sequel to donner
Superman.at time some said Spacey was kind of cross between hackman
and Rosenbaum.I will defend Superman returns ok not casting of kate bosworth as lois one of biggest miscasts ever.Spacey can do lighter moments and then do serious moments.

Hackman was very much a lex for his time.and remember John Bryne was influenced in making lex businessman based on hackman's lex real estate schemes.

with Lois & Clark I feel season 1 is only decent season.and shea as lex is part of reason why.Dean Cain is my least favorate superman.apart from reeve's clark my favorate Clark is actully from SUperman the animated series.where they made clark good reporter and rivial for lois.Clany Brown's lex In DCAU would also be a great lex.

From what i remember i defently agree sherman howard is underated as lex.problem is superboy seasons 2-4 haven't been wildly seen in years.

Cain's Clark is excellent. His likeability and charm go a long way for me, regardless if he's lampooned by other fans/critics. He's one of my favourites.

Yeah. His Clark is my favorite. His Superman's a different story, but his Clark mostly made up for it, imo, since Clark was more the point of that show than Supes.

Talbot was the best silver age lex while Shea was the best post crisis lex IMO, but since I prefer the post crisis lex to the silver age one I'll go with Shea. Rosenbaum was fantastic also btw.

Anybody who isn't Eisenberg. But my fave is still probably Rosenbaum.
