I'm gonna say Joker is off to the worst start. Joker may be the most popular and marketable DC character after Nolan's 2008 film. Leto's version built off of that popularity and squandered it.

I can't imagine Affleck making a credible critically-successful Batman film with that version of the Joker in play.

EisenLex is an easy fix. Bring in an older established actor as Lex Sr. to be the real Lex of this universe. Kill off EisenLex painfully. He is Jar Jar Binks.

Joker. He was basically reduced to an annoying weirdo chasing his gf around.

I'd say they were equally as bad. Joker made me almost as upset with his limited screen time as Luthor did with his several lengthy scenes.

I wanted to vote "both equally bad" but decided to vote Lex. I have actually gotten excellent onscreen adaptations of Joker and there may be a chance he can be salvaged under different writers and direction. Lex has yet to have his definitive big screen debut for me. And I am not gonna hark back on 1970's real estate con man Lex Gene Hackman. There have been opportunities by now. Kevin Spacey was wasted and I can't even begin to express my disappointment of Eisenberg.

Leto could probably pull off the classic Joker if he were asked to, but Eisenberg is so far from being the classic Lex that I don't think it's possible.

Leto's Joker is the worst. Eisenberg's Luther actually has the opportunity to get better. Luther could be a changed man after being in prison. He could be more serious, less twitchy, and it would be in character. Leto would have to change his entire Joker schtick for me to even remotely like him in the role.

How could this Lex even be the serious corporate Lex Luthor anymore after going to jail for such major crimes against humanity?

The 'Lexcorp' Lex is basically done now. That was it.

Even if Eisenberg's Luthor doesn't come out of jail a changed man, Leto's Joker had way more positive anticipation behind it and I was left with the worst performance and characterization of a cbm "villain" I've seen in years.

I can't help but laugh at the ****tiness of this situation. They took two of DC's premier villains, characters that will presumably play bigger roles in the DCEU, and decided that these were the ones they were going to take huge creative risks with. And neither paid off.

So now we're stuck with a neurotic, hyperactive spazzoid for Lex Luthor, and a trashy gangbanger Jim Carrey knockoff for the Joker.

Unnecessary risks just about sums up everything. Marvel got so much right that WB felt compelled to make stupid decisions simply to be different.

Lex will evolve. I think Joker is more or less what we're going to get.

I approached them both the same. Leto and Eisenberg are both very talented actors and I think they could've done their characters justice with better direction. (or in Leto's case, any direction at all) Leto did fail harder, I think because more people are fans of him over Eisenberg.

There was much less of Letoker, so perhaps people feel he made them suffer less than Eisenlex did.

At first I was torn between "Why on Earth is Leto 2nd billed when he has less than 10 minutes of screen time" and "You know what, I'm glad he only had less than 10 minutes of screen time"

To me it not matter he was in less than Luthor. He done just as bad we just not need to see as much of him lol.

Lex will evolve.

Unless said evolution involves him being shot in the head and replaced by a more competent Earth-2 Lex Luthor, it isn't going to help.

Both are bad but I can tolerate Leto's Joker. Eisenberg's Luthor in BvS I couldn't stand.

Guys, Luthor's head was shaved. His bald head is actually a sun stone that will activate his evolution of being less neurotic, jumpy and being a fast talking twerp.

I don't know in what direction he can evolve. He certainly can't become the smooth, respectable businessman who privately tries to destroy Superman.

I'm not actually sure how much screen time Eisenberg is going to get in JL. Maybe in MOS2? If they ever do that one.

Good point. Joker can always get crazier and more unpredictable as Batman twarts his various schemes or Harley starts to reject him. Not sure how Luthor becomes more sane and a respected businessman.
