Great Kids series he had unbreakable bones like a certain someone.

It was a bit like EE Doc Smiths Lord Tedric for a younger audience. You must be in your late 30's?

early 50's to be exact

Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's stuff. Imagine Michael Crichton with more horror (they're not in order, btw):
The Relic
Reliquary
Still Life With Crows
Cabinet of Curiosities
Brimstone
Book of the Dead

And a couple more I can't remember right now. Not really a series, but a bunch of interconnected stories. Margo Green, Police Lt. Vincent D'Agosta, and FBI Special Agent Pendergast are all characters that show up throughout.

They also have a couple of more books:
Thunderhead
Riptide
Utopia (Lincoln Child by himself)

that seem to be in the same universe, though they don't have any of their standard characters.

Great books, fast reads, and incorporate a bunch of genres from monster thriller (The Relic) to murder mystery (Cabinet of Curiosities) to genuine science fiction (Utopia). They're all connected though.

Go read them.

I'll be the first nerd to say Harry Potter.

I'l also go old school with Animorphs. Y'all remember.

And I'll be the second nerd to say Harry Potter, then.

Check out the Xanth Series by Piers Anthony.

1st book is called "A spell for Chameleon"

In this series, everyone who lives in Xanth has a unique magic power, and the landside is filled with puns.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick is my all time sci-fi favourite.

The Dark Tower is my favorite book series, regardless of genre.

Book Of The Art, began with The Great and Secret Show, the second book was Everville, still waiting for Clive Barker to finish the 3rd

Abarat, Clives childrens, book a triology (piggyback off of Harry Potter)neglcting Book of the Art to focus on it, but what ever.

Imajica, it wasn't a series when I read it. It was a big @$$ book. Damn good one, too.

Animorph is teh awesome:o I read Harry Potter too.

can't believe I will be the first to say this but;

A song of Ice and Fire
By George RR Martin.

The Dark Elf Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: A Trilogy in 5 Parts, by Douglas Adams
The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind
The Legions of Fire Trilogy by Peter David
The Psi Corps Trilogy by J. Gregory Keyes
The Passing of the Technomages Trilogy by Jeanne Cavelos

I'm still working on the Dune Series by Frank Herbert, and I'm looking everywhere for the Lensman Series by E.E. Smith

I forgot to add The Lord of the Rings collection by JRR Tolkien. That fits under fantasy genre and is another one of my all time favourites.
