Favorite One of All time is Optimus

Optimus Prime (Awesome from the show, one of the few who actually came off better than he initially did in the comic)
God Ginrai (i.e. Powermaster Prime who was the BEST Prime ever as seen in Marvel Comics....he killed Unicron in issue 86 sacrificing himself in the process)
Rodimus/Hot Rod
Outback is a great little toy
Nightbeat is a cool character (he is an autobot detective and was featured in a film noir story in the comic)
Prowl (horrendous on the show, great in the comic...lived till the bitter end ironically in Marvel, double crossed by Bludgeon)

I just picked up the War Within and it was interesting seeing the different subgroups of the Autobots. One led by Springer, one by Prowl and the other by Grimlock.

Springer led the Wreckers in the UK series which is largely where this factioning came from. The factions of Autobots are as follows

Fortress Maximus led a group composed of the future Targetmasters and Headmasters, Technobots, Monsterbots

Prowl was subordinate to Optimus Prime, but was the original leader of the group that went to earth and also took command between Marvel issues 9-12, and again "lead" in the last few issues

Ultra Magnus was a subordinate to Emerite Xaaron, who was in fact as it turned out Primus' embodiement

Grimlock led the original Dinobots, however its a bit of a continuity glitch to have them on Cybertron since the comic said they were created on earth while the Autobots lay dormant

Blaster led a group comprised of the figures who would show up in the second wave of toys

Lord Straxus ran another group of Decepticons while on Cybertron when Blaster led his resistance

Alas, I have never been up on Transformers. It's a gap in my resume. The only one I know is Optimus Prime.

What I like is robot lions that join and make a giant samurai thing with a sword.
