Favorite Guitar Solos

Well, I'm a big Metallica fan, so I'll list my favorites of theirs...
Nothing Else Matters (Short yet great)
Unforgiven
Master Of Puppets (On the all time greatest list)
One
Anesthesia (Can we count bass solos as well?)

Other artists,
Freebird - Lynard Skynard (Eventhough it is like three guys playing it)
See The Light - The Jeff Healy Band (Just remember when you hear it, the dude playing is blind)
La Grange - ZZ Top

Helter Skelter - The Beatles
Jumpin' Jack Flash - The Rolling Stones

The members of Led Zeppelin are:

Robert Plant - Vocals
Jimmy Page - Guitar
John Bonham - Drums
John Paul Jones - Bass/Keyboards
Jimmy Page's Solos - Inexplicable, Impossibly Magical 4-Dimensional Manifestations of Emotion, Power and Sex

I'm not even going to include them because most all of his solos are the greatest solo ever written, depending upon which one you're listening to at the moment.

"must-mention" highlights though include Whole Lotta Love and the live version of I Can't Quit You Babe. I don't think more than 2 days have gone by without me singing/humming/whistling/scat-singing those solos, since I first heard them...on a smoke break, walking, sitting at work...they are so perfect, they are like familiar spirits that follow me.

So, All Led Zeppelin solos...then...

It's like Ozzy was so hurt by Tony Iommi that he wanted to go solo and rub the fact that Iommi is such a crappy soloist in his face, because he has had a long line of amazing, perfect solos for his songs.

Crazy Train
Flying High Again
Shot In The Dark
Close My Eyes Forever
No More Tears

Those are my Ozzy favorites

Also, every solo by Raging Slab is an amazing construct.

Back In Black

Proving that speed is nowhere near a requirement for a classic solo, Def Leppard had some great ones..."Rock of Ages", "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Photograph"

As I've grown older a lot of Eddie Van Halen's slippery ADD tapping has started to bug me, but two perfect ones are "Panama" and "Pound Cake".

The solo for "Round and Round" by Ratt is an awesome Hair Metal dual lead as is the one for "Nobody's Fool" by Cinderella.

I don't even like Pink Floyd but David Gilmour is a king of solos.

This is stupid, I could devote an entire week to coming up with my favorite solos.
I ****ing love the Hell out of so many perfect solos.
Forget it.

Jimmy Page is God.
That is all.

Too many to make a list. Just know that it would have...

Zeppelin, Beatles, Hendrix, White Stripes, Raconteurs, ACDC, and maybe some I'm forgetting.

Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) - Jimi Hendrix

Barracuda - Heart
Talk Dirty To Me - Poison :o
You Really Got Me - The Kinks
The End - The Beatles
Light My Fire - The Doors
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Black Magic Woman - Santana

Paul McCartney also has a live version of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with one of the mindblowing solos you'll ever hear.

It's on the album Tripping The Live Fantastic, though there's footage on Youtube as well:

The album version's better, though (and much faster).

One - Metallica
Green Grass and High Tides - The Outlaws
Devil Went Down To Georgia - Charlie Daniels Band
Anything Led Zeppelin
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses

Just about every Zeppelin song has pretty much the most memorable solos EVER, so that's a given . . .

ummmm . . . Rage Against the Machine also falls in that category, and so do a lot of Mars Volta tunes . . .

I think the Bulls on Parade solo is cool, just for the sound.

The solo in Led's Heartbreaker is f-ing awesome.

One of my ALL time favs . . . Morello is pretty sick all around . . . each one of his solos is a triumph in experimental-guitar . . . and the guy didn't learn to play until he was in college! :wow:

yes. yes it is . . . and just one of many . . .

also, a lot of people try to knock Audioslave, but you can't deny how sick their solos are either . . . again; Tom Morello doing his thang . . .

It's not much or very "metal/hard" but I always loved this Guitar solo.

It's Lynyrd Skynyrd. And it depends on the version. Live, yes, three people play the solo. Studio? One man played all three solo parts.

The Godfather Medley - Slash
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica

Light My Fire - Robby Krieger (The Doors)
Beat It - Eddie Van Halen
Sweet Child O' Mine - Slash (Guns N' Roses)
Stairway To Heaven - Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
Back In Black - Agnus Young (AC/DC)
Money - David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)
Killer Queen - Brian May (Queen)
Hotel California - (Eagles)
Bohemian Rhapsody - Brian May (Queen)

More than a feeling...but only as air guitared by Ted.
