Season 4 of STAS would be so great! Yeah I tried to watch Brainiac Attacks recently... wtf were they thinking? Those voices were so terrible, and the storyline was unbearable.

Legacy was by far the best episode of the DCAU imo. I can watch it a million times and never get tired of it. And Tim Daly is my favourite voice actor for Supes, followed by George Newbern.

Am I the only one who sometimes thought the DCAU Lex looked mixed-black sometimes?

No, but he isn't. He's white. His face was based off actor Telly Savalas in the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" somewhat along with his characterization. Bruce Timm said he never got how people mistook him for black or mixed, lol.

Watch this clip though and tell me this is not Lex Luthor (albeit not as in shape as Lex...):

Even the voice is similar to Clancy Brown's here....which is what they were going for with the Lex casting. Bruce Timm said there's something about Telly's Blofeld performance where you could see that he wanted to be taken as "cultured" and "civilized" but was really a brute underneath and you could see that sort of creeping though with his mannerisms and tones and things - also perfect for Lex Luthor.

Makes me sad to think about Brainiac Attacks. :(

That pic is a perfect example though as a side by side comparison of how someone with black skin would look in the show and how Lex looks - should help put to rest the notion that Lex was black or mixed, IMO.

Not always:

She's mixed/black and she's lighter than Lex

They look like brothers!

Like I've said before the DCAU Superman looked his best during his appearance on Static Shock.

A number of white characters from STAS were depicted with somewhat dark complexions: Superman himself and especially Daniel Turpin.

While I personally don't agree that Luthor looks black on the show, I can see why some might perceive him that way. It's a combination of the bald head + dark complexion + unusually large lips. In trying to base the look of the character on Telly Savalas, it's in the latter mentioned feature that Timm failed to deliver. Aside from the lips, though, his Luthor is a dead ringer for Savalas.

I don't know why, but I always get Billy Zane confused with Timothy Olyphant from Justified.

The DCAU Lex was by far the best version of him outside the comics, I believe

I kind of like the Ed Mcguinness inspired design for Superman from the "Public Enemies": animated film. His art style really lends itself to animation.

Oh whoops, I voted based on take on the character, not design. Just woke up brain fart.

My favorite design is the Young Justice one. Just a more "realistic" take in terms of actual human-like proportions.

Superman vs the Elite design gets a lot of stick but I swear the films so good that you barely even notice it. I think story wise this us by far the best DC Animated film.

But yeah a definite George Reeves vibe.

It was a great film, but I wasn't a fan of his design. George Newbern did a fantastic job voicing him though

I agree with you about not noticing the animation style because of how good the movie is. I'm not sure I would call it the best one but it's definitely up there, along with Under the Red Hood, Year One and All-Star Superman.

That's the one I accidentally voted for in the poll because it's the best characterization of Supes in any animated show/movie I've seen. Really gets to the heart of the character. But I was not a fan of the animation like most people.

Not the best film but the best story and the best ending. At least in my opinion.

Superman vs the Elite was a great animated film I loved it's definitely for me one of the best DC have done.
