Just threw up in my mouth a little watching Trump getting all preachy at the National Day of Prayer. Of course he couldn't get through it without repeating the crap about how "we're saying under God and Merry Christmas again" because of course Obama didn't say those things (except when he did on various occasions, on video).

Not that Trump himself could care less whether or not anyone says under God or Merry Christmas, but his core base that believes everything he says and believes Obama is a Muslim will eat this up.

I guess the bottom line for me is, if you seriously believe Donald Trump of all freaking people on the face of the Earth is some kind of defender/restorer of Christian values....I don't even know what to tell you.

Well 75% of evangelicals love him, so next time they try to preach values, you can tell them where to stuff it.

The morality of Christianity is an inconvenient side issue for fundamentalist Christians for whom alignment to the religion is far more about race and other identity categories than it is about any desire to imitate Christ's life and principles.

It's just about identifying who's in 'the club' and who isn't. It's the same for every religion where most of the followers flout doctrine day in and day out.

The closest Trump has come to being religious is being the antiChrist. :(

Tapped his cell and the phone in the basement.

Holy ****.

They had a wire tap on Cohen. No wonder they were so certain about what they would find. Expect the "deep state" conspiracies to go into overdrive.

EDIT: And they caught a White House call!!! OMFG
After the raid, members of Trump's legal team advised the president not to speak to Cohen, according to a person familiar with the discussion. Two sources close to Trump's newest attorney, Rudolph Giuliani, say he learned that days after the raid the president had made a call to Cohen, and told Trump never to call again out of concern the call was being recorded by prosecutors.
Lordy...

The White House call is likely the one Trump made after the raid, which every legal expert I saw said was an idiotic move. Because, good chance Cohen was tapped.

Let's just hope the tap gave them something nice and juicy. Trump needs to GO! :D

Trump can stick around till 2020. No need for President Pence.

Why did Trump have his lawyer pay off the porn star? If he's corrupt in the first place, how come he didn't try to silence her another way?

I'm not advocating that he should kill her off, but questioning why he didn't do that, given who he is and how much power he wields.

If a mobster wanted to ensure that someone never talks, they wouldn't simply pay that person off, because they could easily break silence again at a later date (which is what Stormy Daniels is doing now). They would have gotten rid of her.

So how come Trump didn't take that course of action back then?

He'd have had to murder a lot of women. Because Stormy is one of many women. Also Trump is a wannabe gangster. Not an actual gangster.

Daniels claims she was threatened.

Trump and Cohen are wannabe mobsters, who really are only involved in money laundering and fraud, not the actual violent stuff.

Anybody that still thinks Trump is escaping from this unscathed because he's the president needs to wake up. The FBI wouldn't allow the POTUS's lawyer's phones to be tapped if there wasn't a ****ing good reason.

Cheetoh Jesus's disciples are busy dropping him like a bad habit and eventually he will have the legal system to contend with, he's not outrunning this forever.

After Trump's history of stiffing people out of their money and getting off scot-free for decades, I'm a bit worried it'll happen again whenever he leaves or forced to resign.

I really hope Mueller and the grand jury have more than enough evidence to put this wannabe dictator and his acolytes in prison.

On the plus side, Rudy has implied that Kushner is expendable. So, expect him to be thrown under the bus. Though the whole bit was creepy of Rudy white knighting Ivanka.

Avanti said he was going to send FAUX News a fruit basket or something along those lines. God I love this guy. :hehe:

Because unlike the feverish imaginations of conspiracy theorists that confuse fictional narratives with reality in the USA political murder for hire isn't a common practice. Hell it isn't even a common practice in organized crime these days.

Of course don't tell that to the Trump supporters. Hillary and Bill apparently have the Assassin's Guild on speed dial according to them.

Ehh, I dunno. There's probably going to be some legal back-and-forth gray area stuff on this, not due to Cohen himself being a problem in terms of wiretap validity, but the relationship to the President might cloud it a little. *Shrugs*

Depends what comes of it. If there's some bombshell in the calls incriminating Trump, then yeah, you guys will have the party of a lifetime. If the tapped calls are Cohen's-****ed and Cohen's-****ed only (which is more than possible), it's not going to amount to a bring-down of Cap'n Hairpiece.

Short of something up-and-above the payoff, like an actual black-and-white provable "she was threatened, on Trump's orders", I can't see all the pornstar stuff reaching impeachment levels.

Yeah that's fair, but the United States' Justice Department isn't a bunch of construction contractors scared of Trump's mob contacts. I don't think Mueller is an idiot, we wouldn't have seen the kind of developments that have happened over the last three months so publicly if the DOJ was merely guessing.

Just getting the wire tap requires a massive amount of justification, which several people signed off on, so there's a good chance there's something in it. They put Capone away, I think they can deal with an ignorant narcissist who thinks the whole government exists to do his bidding.

I don't think the Daniels stuff has ever been touted around here much as being what would lead directly to impeachment so... Yeah.

But if it's a campaign finance violation and it goes towards obstruction then it's one more of many irons to throw on the fire, which isn't a single ember mind you but a ****ing bonfire at this point.

*shrugs*
