Feats of Strength

Ages of Thunder had some great Thor vs Frost Giant fights.

And like Corp said, at the start of the film it needs to show that Thor can easily dispose of Frost Giants compared to the other Asgardians who struggle.

It needs to show that he is arrogant and a bit of a *****e about it as well.

*Zip* Aaahhhh... that was a damn good cup of coffee.

Thor should be stronger than 2008 Hulk. That doesn't say much on the other hand. :hehe:

He should be able to lift two humvees with two elefants standing on top of them. Without catching his breath. Yes. It will be done.

Heh, that reminds me of this:

i am sure kenneth will deliever on some stellar fight scenes/action scenes.

better yet is Thor and BRB lifting all of the New Asgard during the Skrull invasion.

Branagh should cameo riding a giant mechanical spider that Thor promptly takes out.

I want to see Thor create at least one truly massive storm in the movie.

Oh, don't worry about that. Marvel/Disney will be generating CGI storms aplenty with Thor. I predict that his major powers in this film will be weather manipulation, mjolnir-throwing/returning, and flying. The fact that he's super-strong (at least in the comics) will be an afterthought.

I predict that he certainly won't be in the Hulk's league in the films; he might be able to keep up with Iron Man if we're lucky. They'll throw us Thor aficionados a bone or two by having him push over a stone pillar, flip a car on its side, or throw his hammer through a rock wall or something (but then, that's his hammer, isn't it?)

I'll bet there's one power we won't see from Thor - his ability to generate lightning directly from his hammer and direct it where he wishes.

It would be extremely foolish to downplay his strength. I know Marvel isn't that stupid, lol

Maybe in the upcoming Avengers movie, when the Hulk and Thor are in the same flick together, we'll see Thor break the Hulk's neck in hand-to-hand combat (see below) - although I seriously doubt it, unless Disney wants to see the sales of their Hulk figurines/dolls drop like a rock.

I don't think they'll downplay his strength too much.

I imagine in the Avengers he'll be the only one who can go toe to toe with Hulk. Trading massive shock wave inducing blows with him.

I'd love a scene in the Avengers where Hulk and Thor are trading blows then both step back and smile at each other, happy they have someone worthy to fight.

Super strength in one of Thor's main and well known powers. Why would they not put that in?

yea i doubt he will be depowered at all, he will probably be at his standard level.

Thor is strong as hell! He's not spiderman or wolverine strong. He's Thor strong:hehe:

His strength is one of his major powers, so I think it'll be showcased to some extent. But even in the comics, it's downplayed a lot. It often feels like Thor, even though he's in the top tier of Marvel's super-strong characters, lags behind the likes of the Hulk, Hercules, et al. It's probably because he's so often associated with the Avengers, and it's tough to have someone as powerful as Thor work on a team, since he can often handle most of the team's problems all by himself. Same thing happens to Superman in the Justice League cartoons.

Thor is almost as strong as the Hulk. The only thing that makes him not quite as strong, is the Hulk has no strength limit and Thor fighting him over a long period the hulk will rage and get stronger.

However, I want it to look good on screen. There's somethings in say the Superman movies that might look good on a comic, but look rather rediculous on screen, like Superman stopping a 747 in mid air with no strain what so ever. There still needs to be some sembelance of the laws of physics to look good in a live action movie.

I don't think they'll downplay his strength. He's always been one of the top guys in the Martvel Universe and He's the strongest god in Norse mythology after all.
:thor:

The problem is, Marvel (i.e. Disney) has painted itself into a corner, so to speak if they want to make Thor really strong - particularly when it comes time to do the Avengers. Look at the CGI Hulk - he's NINE FEET TALL for crying out loud, and built like an M1 tank. Then look at who's playing Thor. Judging from the sole photo we have of Hemsworth in costume, he's built like someone who goes to the gym 3x a week. He's only 6'3", also. The CGI Hulk could mash him like a bug. Yeah, yeah, somebody's gonna give me that whole "Wonder Woman" argument that size doesn't equate to strength, but tell that to the non-comics-reading moviegoing audience, which DOES equate size with strength.

All I can say is, I hope Arad or whoever puts some serious CGI muscles or foam-suit on him or something to make his hoped-for strength a little more believable. I saw Hemsworth in Star Trek - he ain't that big.
