February 2012 Solicitations

Here's hoping DD manages not to get knocked the f*** out and tied up this time. ;)

And isn't there a DD/Punisher crossover coming soon?

It's a DD and Amazing Spider-Man crossover.

And I agree...DD and The Punisher are really great books. Both have great writing and amazing artwork and two completely different feels. Those books and Moon Knight are the only books that I'm reading Marvel wise. :csad:

Her new nickname should be "that chick who no one remembers because she died and stayed dead forever." Stupid Black Cat. :o

It's a DD and Amazing Spider-Man crossover.

Nah, in the letters columns of both books, the editors have mentioned several times a dinner meeting with Waid and Rucka and that we'd see DD and The Punisher together sooner than later. Not to mention, I think what whatever DD's about to figure out in his book also has some sort of ties to something going on in The Punisher with The Exchange. So maybe in march or april, we'll get something.

UH-huh, but the DD/ASM crossover is happening in January. No Punisher/DD crossover has been officially announced.

I liked the Ennis story when Frank duct taped a gun to DD's hand and forced him to pull the trigger to stop him from sniping a mobster.

Full Solicitations here.

Would anyone here recommend any of the classic Avengers trade from that list? I'll be getting the Kree/Skrull War OHC, but what about the other stuff?

Get AVENGERS: THE KORVAC SAGA TPB...

Arguably the second best Avengers story ever told behind the Kree/Skrull war...

You'll be glad you did.

:yay:

Well, that's cool. I haven't heard anything official about the DD/Punisher crossover but I know the DD/Spidey one is happening for sure in January, I think.

It makes total sense for them to crossover though because DD/Punisher/Spider-Man seem to sort of be keeping the same type of cohesive universe. In Punisher Norah Winters is a recurring character and in the recent issue they mentioned calling Carlie Cooper in to investigate the crime scene.

DD and Punisher are really the only two Marvel books I'll be sticking to after Feb. anyway.

Looks like I might not be getting Secret Avengers and Winter Solider after all. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to those books but the double shipping of books that I'm already buying is just killing me here.

Now that the full solicits are up, here's some thoughts.....

First, what's the story with Battle Scars? Has there been any rumors as to who Marcus Johnson may be or end up becoming?

Whilce Portacio on Incredible Hulk....crap. And folks thought Silvestri was bad - he's worse.

Captain America #8 is the reason why Brubaker needs to move on from Cap. Another skinny powerless story? C'mon, that's twice in a year. His first arc in the relaunch has been boring.

More ninjas in Avengers? LOL, folks around here were defending Bendis saying he barely used them....suckers!

Hawkeye is the new leader for Secret Avengers - :awesome:

Nothing about Marcus' origins in the first issue of Battle Scars so far. I have a feeling it's gonna be a Red Hulk kind of situation, where they draw it out way too long.

Yay for Portacio on Incredible Hulk; that means he's no longer stinking up the otherwise excellent Journey into Mystery. :awesome:

Hawkeye apparently recruits Pym for the Secret Avengers right after Pym recruited Hawkeye to teach at Avengers Academy. I wonder if Hawkeye will get Pym on the team by calling in his teaching position as a favor. "Hey, I came through when you were short-handed. Now it's your turn." I hope Remender actually makes good use of a spy team with two super-scientists, too.

Me too! I've been hoping that Marvel would reprint this for a while.

I really would love to read Aaron's Hulk but I can't bring myself to do it.

I love everything Aaron but with double shipping I just can't afford it. I even skipped on Wolverine and the X-men.Most of the books I'm getting now double ship.I'm only going to jump on Winter solider because it's 2.99 and it'll just be replacing Ghost Rider on my pull list.

It's interesting to note that there's a common trend here of people saying "i can't afford this". And we're supposed to be the hardcore fanbase, if we won't pay for this double shipping stuff, how will the more casual readers react? I suspect this double shipping strategy will crash and burn badly for marvel.

-I'll keep reading the Marvel books I'm reading now (though I might not renew Invincible Iron Man when my mail subscription runs out), but the company is flooding the market so hard right now I'd be very hesitant to add a book.
-I read Captain America and Cap & Bucky right now but my interest does not extend to a third ongoing. At least not to collect in single issues.
-Remender on Secret Avengers sounds promising. I'm already rolling my eyes at the "an Avenger will die" hype though.
-In 2011, I think Marvel could get someone more relevant and still popular to do a review blurb for Torso than Todd McFarlane.

DD couldn't have ripped the tape off or just pistol whipped Frank ?

I find that hard to believe, i mean Frank's a mean fighter, but DD's easily one of the best in the MU. He would've whooped Frank's tail easily.

I know. I am dropping books because of cost, not because of story quality. I hate hurting the creators because it's not their fault...they are just making the comics...but I just can't support this double shipping and .1 crap anymore.

There are tons of trades and other comics I'm interested in getting and they'll get my money.

DD did kick the living hell out of him until Frank used an ultrasonic device to get the drop on him. He then chained him to a post with the one arm free that had the gun taped to his hand.
