The obvious ... B89 and Heat, but what else?

I've noticed Gangs of NY, Untouchables, Serpico, 1st 2 Dirty Harry movies ... anything else?

I think a thread like this got shot down before?I may be going mad tho :p

I don't think it's quite like Serpico, but thats my 2c

Didn't the Joker character take cues from, "A Clockwork Orange?"

The films i've seen Nolan/Wally state as influences so far...

Dog Day Afternoon
Bullitt
Heat
Godfather (1 and 2)
The Empire Strikes Back
The Seven-Ups
The French Connection

All in all pretty much "the classics".

but why won't they just admit Point Break is the main influence for the heist? ;)

Nolan recently said that Taxi Driver was a major influence to TDK.

Nolan mentioned the shark in "Jaws" in association with the Joker.

I've heard Kubrick's "The Killing" as an influence in the heist scene too (clown mask heist).

yep, he want's to tell a dark story about a rotten city.

@????
i never thought about that, but you are right. it really seems like the bankheist in the beginning is somehow inspired by the killing. there are many influences by stanley kubrick, jokers attitude is influenced by alex from a clockwork orange.

i find it very funny that so many people watch the trailers and seem to see the influences of batman 89. only because we see a fight between batman and joker which we already saw 1000 of times in the comicbooks? give me a break. nolan does the same thing burton did, he takes different batman/joker confrontations out of the comicbooks and pushes them into his film.

Heat and A Clockwork Orange..nothing other than that..:D

They said Dog Day Afternoon was a big influence.

Of course B89 is an influence. If it's something they need to move away from, that's means it' had an effect.

Brilliant movie. One of top three favorite Kubrick films.

Jokers clown mask is also based off a design Romero wore in the old TV show. When he dressed up as Pagliacci. Someone must have the pic, it's pretty cool

I can definitely see some influence from Beauty And The Beast, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead and, clearly, Ghost. But that's just me. I mean, I don't wanna put words in Christopher Nolan's mouth.

^ :down just because you don't see the influences it doesn't mean they're not there.

The French Connection.

Indeed. I also see some Taxi Driver and a bunch of Kubrick in there.

It's just so f**king incredible that we even have the privilege of comparing the style of a Batman movie to these cinematic classics. Thank you, Christopher Nolan.

Your welcome.

I hope the car chase is as good as the one in The French Connection. But Nolan loves those movies and I do too, so I'm glad he takes inspiration from them.

For Batman Begins he used Blade Runner as an inspiration. I'm sure he used it for The Dark Knight as well.

Possibly Apocalypse Now... the madness and what it can do to a man or to people.

Are you like Stan from the Eminem song?

"Hey Christopher Nolan, why didn't you write me back?
I gave you some pointers on how to re-do Insomnia because I thought it was crap.
I tell people I am you on Super Hero Hype in hope they will care
I even googled your pictures and tried to match the style of your hair"
