Someone was going to do it.
------------------------------
  • Batman diving out the window to save Gordon's son (reminiscent of Year One where he dove off a bridge to save James, Jr.)
  • The Joker giving conflicting stories about his past. (slight allusion to his citing of a 'multiple choice' remembrance of his past ...or that he's just a damn dirty liar whenever he sees fit).
  • Not really an easter egg per se, but when Fox responds to Bruce's mockups of a new suit with "So, you want to be able to turn your head.", I was taken back to many a Batsuit debate about stiff cowls and that Batman previous had to turn his entire torso. :funny:
Of course, there's obvious stuff like Harvey using the coin, but what else we got?

One particular caught my eye, especially in the trailers:

The meeting of Harvey Dent, Jim Gordon and Batman, reminiscent of The Long Halloween, there's even an instance where Harvey and Jim are talking and like always Batman disappears and Jim says, "He does that." I know it's obvious but I thought I'd like to point it out :)

The one that stuck out most to me was the line...

"I think you and I are destined to do this forever."

obvious comic reference

When Fox answers questions about Wayne's new suit,

Wayne: "How will it hold up against dogs?"

Fox: "You talking Chihuahuas or rottweilers? It should do fine against cats.

Thought it was pretty cool that Nolan and Co. threw that in there.

okay....this may sound kind of silly. but when joker says "you complete me"....were they making a reference to jerry maguire. he said it kind of in a joking, dramatic tone.

That was pretty interesting now that I think about it ^

here are some obvious and maybe not so obvious ones I could spot:

Giant pile of money from Long Halloween.

TDK is 'bookended' in a similar way as Long Halloween. Long Halloween's early moments consist of the rooftop 'pact' and then it ends with the big three back on the roof, only Harvey has gone on his rampage, etc. Theres a similar moment at the end of TDK and I think even Gordon mentions something about the 'pact' the big three made earlier.

-Harvey gets scarred in a very similar way to TAS.

-If I remember correctly, rupert thorne's henchgirl...Candice I believe...she poses as a cop and kidnaps Gilda? I think thats what she does and it kind of reminds me how things went down with Rachel in TDK.

-Harvey going ape***** on thugs. That was GREAT. I thought that maybe allusion's to harvey's two-faceness were going to be sublte, hints about his father (eye of the beholder!!!), etc. but not so far as to show 'big bad harv' in action.

-I think 'i make my own luck' might be from the eye of the beholder that focuses on his relationship to his father. he used to trick him with a two-headed coin so that he could beat him whenever he lost.

-I remember just day dreaming about the movie before having seen it and thinking...ya know...Nolan would just make my day if Mr. J had a pack of Hyenas!!!! And I got something remarkably close towards the end, Mr. J with a crowbar and three rotweilers gettin his back.

-Joker annouoncing hits after he's already set them up a la his first appearance and the Man Who Laughs.

I saw parallels between Two-face's 'trial' of Gordon in No Man's Land and the end scene in TDK.

And the end was very much like the aftermath of "War Games", where Batman is personna non grata amongst GCPD (well, other than Gordon)

Jeebus. Almost forgot about the lenses (which looked much better than what we saw in the TV spot).

There's also a scene where you get a really good look at Two Face's suit being 'split'; the left side was noticeably burned and frayed.
That's about as much as a two-tone suit as we're going to get out of this franchise. :funny:

yeah the scene that shows best is at the end the light shines right on it, looked great..

The lenses looked great! I was skeptical at first but my respect and trust for nolan as having a keen aesthetic eye assured me that youtube footage is no way to properly judge the lenses and that the largeness of them were probably due to their 'glow' which blurred their edges. I really enjoyed them in the finale and also confirmed some speculation about joker being seen through batman's sonar.

I have a feeling "I want my phone call" was a reference to the Matrix. Except The Joker didn't give them the finger.

"You complete... me" was obviously a Jerry Maguire reference. He pauses at the right moment as well.

Not really a nod but something that happend in real life

The Joker sending GCN videos of his plans for Gothams, Kinda like Osama doing what he does with his videos that he sends.

I thought "you complete me" was from Brokeback Mountain.

Why would Christopher Nolan be giving Tom Cruise and the cast of Jerry Maguire a nod? lol

Why is Batman laying on his back a couple of times in the film? IDK but I found it kinda like Micheal Myers like no matter what he gets thrown at him he always stands right back up.

Patience Batty, patience.... within a few hours all will be right in your world........ :yay:

:hehe:

I can't believe no one has mentioned the court room scene. The whole thing is set up just like Two-Face's origin in the comics. The exception is that instead of a vial of acid, the "witness" has a gun that does not go off. I really enjoyed that scene.

*SPOILER*

The part where the SWAT cop captures the Joker and reveals himself to be Gordon is right out of Dark Victory (except in DV it was Batman disguised as SWAT).

Bat-Costume with fabric in it. White lenses on the cowl.

Somebody's finally given them to us, and it's met with, "I think they should look like this instead" or "they'd be better if they looked like this."

Whatever. Opinions are opinions and all that ********.
