Final Crisis VS Batman RIP

The only Batman story connected to Final Crisis is the "Last Rites" two-parter. RIP has nothing to do with FC, and vice versa.

RIP was absolutely AWESOME!!! Just read it!

I didn't like RIP, and I thought the best parts of FC were some of the minis and one-shots (like Last Will and Testament, for examples), while the series itself was too all over the place and, much like Infinite Crisis, tried to do too much. However, like was already said, at least both were better than Secret Invasion. The last big event story that I thought was GREAT was Identity Crisis.

I don't see why this is suddenly such a terrible thing NOW, though. No one *****ed about it in the 70s. Superhero comics have always teased death as a way of boosting sales. "Buy this issue or the Flash dies!" "Robin dies at dawn!" "Aunt May dies!" "Not a dream! Not an imaginary story!" It's part of the language.

I've been reading comics for decades and I guess it's a case of finally being burned out on that particular plot device.

Final Crisis

FC is certainly fraught with problems of all kinds, whereas RIP is mostly pretty solid in its execution. But in the end, RIP totally squandered all of it's dramatic build-up with a final issue so completely anti-climactic that I had to double-check that it was actually written by Morrison. FC, on the other hand, is a pretty consistently enjoyable story throughout all 7 issues with an appropriate ending.

Wow, this is almost word-for-word what I was going to post about my personal feelings about the two stories.

Very well said

How the beap did Batman die?
Why did they kill off an everlasting legend?

Appreciate any in and fo thrown my way.

Yeah that got me so mad.
All in all, the whole RIP was pretty much useless.
DC's just going to see if they get the sales they want with the idea of a new Batman and if it doesn't work, they'll just press a button and poof Ol' Bruce's back! Or if it works, they'll just bring him back outta nowhere in a year or less. I've really been trying to hold on DC for the past 2-3 years and these day I feel like only GLcorps (and maybe Action Comics) is worth following. I always thought Marvel was crap, but now it looks as though ,at least, THEY know where they're going...and Cap is really dead by the way.
They should've killed Bruce for real and force it into fans.
Make us believe in a new stroyline with a new Batman, with new methods and ideals.

I liked final crisis better than RIP overall. They both had weak endings. RIP's ending felt anti-climactic, and Final Crisis' ending did not make a ton of sense. I really liked a few of the final crisis tie ins (rogue's revenge, rage of the red lanterns, resist, submit)
