Final Fantasy Advent Children

Hi,

My son and I watched this film on DVD and i thought it was very enjoyable. I am not familiar with this type of film genre. Do you all have any recommendations of other similar films with this kind of animation?

I found the movie very enjoyable, but something was lacking. Not sure what it was though. Might have been because I consider the videogame to be the greatest thing ever created lol I had high expectations. If you haven't played the game on PS, I suggest you do. It has an awesome story and soundtrack

I'm not really sure on other anime type films, but I'm sure someone here can help A friend of mine really liked "Appleseed" and "Steamboy". But those aren't CG.

I had no idea what was going on in Advent Children, but it looked great.

You have to get Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, a far superior film if you ask me.

Are you talking about Advent Children or The Spirits Within? I haven't played any of the games so the "raping" of the plots means nothing to me. The characters are a heck of a lot better than in Advent Children I'm sure of that.

Although, if you had'nt played FF7, then you wouldn't appreciate the characters in the film. They counted upon prior knowledge of the characters.

At least TSW went to theaters. No way in heck could AC have done so.

The AD characters seemed to be: lone motorcycle brooding guy, crazed black leather guy, crying girl and other miscellaneous 1-scene characters.

You can't really fully enjoy Advent Children without playing Final Fantasy 7. The game is far more superior than AC by a long shot. Maybe because you have hours upon hours of character development and all of that fun stuff that made the game incredible
AC would have crashed and burned if it had been released in theaters, which is pretty much what "The Spirits Within" did. The voice acting in AC was decent, but at times it was just crap. Something about the story just seemed rushed and confused. Like chickens without heads running around. As if Square just wanted to continue the story of FF7 without double checking what they wrote.
Actually, I don't think AC was even needed. FF7 should have just remained what it says it is. A Final Fantasy. Enough with sequels. Just remake the damn game, so I can lock myself in a room for 24 hours and then do it all over again

To create a poll first create a new thread and choose the poll option (at the very bottom). You have the choice to make it a public (where names of voters are shown) or private poll.

IMO Spirits Within has absolutely no place in the Final Fantasy Universe.

I honestly can't think of any CG imports, although you may want to try some amalgamations of 2D and 3D, like apparently the new Ghost in the Shell.

You may want to try some videogames that use FMV or action scenes like that ones used in AC.

Advent Children is the first Final Fantasy animated film based on the games. Spirits Within is not really similar but you still might like it. Final Fantasy in general is pretty unique so you'll be hard pushed to find anything comparable. However the "manga" genre is the closest I can think of although you should probably check the ratings before you watch with children as a lot of them have adult concepts.

Wait...Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was made by Square Pictures. It's got them bankrupt, but the Wachowskis came in and gave em enough money for Final Flight of the Osiris, but then went into nothingness.

Who animated Advent Children? Some Japanese company, but who?

I saw AC last fall with my school's anime club. I only played part of the game (although I've started playing it again to see if I can actually finish it this time) but despite that, I still understood at least half of what was going on and came away absolutely amazed at what a great film it was. After I finish the game I'll watch the movie again to see if I understand it any better.
