Final Fantasy XIII-2

Or maybe they should finally work on something fans actually want and give us that FFVII remake. Takes 40 years to make my ass.

But honestly, I'd take Dissidia on the PS3 over it. That game is awesome on the PSP. Imagine it powered by the PS3. God... I'm salivating just at the thought of it.

I'm genuinely excited for this game! I loved the battle system in the first game, it's like real life, you can't control others actions, only what type of fighter they are told to be, if that makes sense.

Some videos from E3 2011

I'm really excited for this game, seems less linear, looks like excellent graphics!!!!! People quite complaining about the combat system, it's great.

I'm so over this. I watch the footage and have no reactions whatsoever. Except thinking "Meh, whatever."

wait, I'm confused!

I thought FF XIII-2 was going to focus on Lightning ( in her new armor )?

but all I see in the demo is Serah and that new guy?

I watched the recent trailer for it, and I thought it looked pretty cool, but the fact that it's a sequel to game I couldn't stand means I'll probably never play it.

Well I ain't buying it then. Ah Square when will you learn?
Seriously. The battle system was one of the biggest complaints about XIII. I cant believe they are bringing it back instead of doing something else

I'm sorry, i have to chime in here, the battle system in FFXIII was the best by far. It was an excellent system. It was well-balanced, fast pace, all strategy. I mean, if you are the leader in a group, REALISTICALLY, you assign roles to your team mates, not tell them what task to do. It's called being a good manager. Ex., you assign a teammate as the Medic, and let him/her make the decision of what to do as a Medic. It's perfect.

YOU ALL SERIOUSLY WANT TO CONTROL EVERYBODY'S MOVES, YOU KNOW HOW LONG A SINGLE BATTLE WOULD TAKE

Fair enough, you liked it but a good number of FF fans did not. FFXIII had some major complaints launched against it and the battle system was one of them. This was their chance to fix what was wrong about the last game and actually take in the criticisms and go in a different direction. FFXIII-2 shouldnt be more of the same. I was actually holding out hope that they would be improving the gameplay and using the extra time to flesh things out a bit more. Sadly, it doesnt look like this is the case. I smell a straight up cash cow.

Have you ever played a FF game before XIII? The battles werent any longer or shorter than what was in the previous entries. Heck some battles in XIII could take up to a half hour to get through.

i have played FFX, and liked the battle system of that game as well. When i played XIII, i complained about how the system didn't allow me to control all characters/moves, but once i started playing the game, i LOVE THE SYSTEM in XIII. I think, you have play for a bit a while to appreciate the system, did you beat the game?

Plus, the major major complaint of the game was not of them battle system, and was how the story was linear, which they improved alot in XIII-2

I can't speak for Havok, but it took me like half a year to finish the game, I believe. Not because it was difficult, but because I got tired of it really fast and decided to let the game collect dust, until I was in the mood to pick it up again.

There's potential for the battle system to be fun, but the way they handled it in FFXIII, it got boring really fast. Mostly because some battles took too ****ing long. And spending most of the time switching roles, doesn't exactly make for an exciting battle experience in my honest opinion.

I not only beat the game, I have 77 hours logged into my final save. Playing the game didnt make me appreciate it as it flat out stunk. I didnt say the battle system was the only major complaint; it was one of many. Battle system is directly tied to gameplay. If one cant enjoy how the gameplay is set up than that is going to have a negative impact on a player's experience regardless of everything else

It was boring nad long bc you literally did nothing but mash the X button and need to know when to switch your roles to heal/attack. It was oversimplified and didnt require any skill.

Seriously, the battle system sucked in XIII. Don't get me wrong, I liked the game and all. I beat every challenge monster there was but the system was waaay too dummy proof. There's no joy out of simply putting everyone on auto-pilot and then mashing the X button a few times.

The battle system was terrible. Yea its great maybe it pulled in some new types of fans, but FFIV-IX were the glory years. And they need to go back to that. Gameplay is key and FFXIII was one of the most boring hard to get through games ever.

And Director.....realistic? Are you for reals? IT IS CALLED FINAL FANTASY NOT FINAL REALISM.

FF was never about speed, that is what angered me most about the past few FF games is they are trying to time you and make it nothing more then a button masher. FF was about taking your time in battle and using your wits and strategy to take down an enemy, not just being as quick as you can about it. Square continues to fail, the name still gives it sales, hell I bought XIII but I will not get the second one. Until they learn from Nintendo that sometimes the most old school core aspects of your game still works, (See Zelda, Mario, Metroid) stop trying to "westernize/modernize" crap that does not need it.

I will wait until Square learns their lesson, until then I will not be buying a game that uses that type of gameplay.

I thought FF XIII-2 was supposed to be about Lightning in her new armor.........but most of the screenshots shown so far show Serah and that new guy..............

Serah for me is the only intruging part so far. I thought she was going to be playable in FFXIII but sat the vast majority of it out

but I want to see Lightning in her sexy new armor..........:csad: :oldrazz:

It pisses me off that so many resources have been diverted from Versus and other projects to work on this game, particularly because I did not care for FFXIII.

yeah.....I'm pretty surprised at how quiet they've been on Versus.

before you know it, it will go multi-platform.........or pushed back till next generation......

Indeed. Versus has been in development for five years with no release date on sight, and it's a shame, because I thought Versus looked much more interesting than FFXIII or anything else Square has got going on.
