Hey, did anybody raise an eyebrow over the "logic" behind Alicia's bracelet? It keeps her from teleporting by releasing LEAD into her body? Hello???!!! Lead is quite poisonous, even in trace amounts. How stupid!

heh guess u dont drink the tap water up there in Boston then Pat?? :D

I took the trace amounts thing to mean like minute levels, not like she eats lead paint chips or anything :D

Heh. Bottled water for this cat.

Anybody else here watch last night's ep on Boston's affiliate? I was freakin' LIVID! For the first half hour - the ENTIRE first half hour, they ran the school closing announcements continuously, over, and over and over again, which squished the already letterboxed screen. I was sooooo freakin' PISSED!! I can't even do caps from my tape 'cause the image is foreshortened. I can correct it, but there's no way to tell how much other than ballpark. Gah!!!!

Little known factoid: a few hundred years ago, the glass harmonica was very popular (that's the "instrument" that uses tuned glass bells that the musician runs a wet palm over to produce a tone, similar to what you get with a wine or champagne glass.) Anyhoo, the musicians of these instruments often went crazy. I mean, just plain NUTS. Many died. Nobody knew what was going on, but it seemed as if the poor saps were just plain cursed or something. It was later discovered that they slowly poisoned themselves. The glass bells were made from leaded glass. Apparently, there was enough lead absorbed into the skin just by touching the glass that it eventually killed them.

<---- Fount of useless information.

I just figure her mutated DNA compensates for the lead in her system. I'm wondering why no FOTWs ever suffer from the Jitters anymore. That disease has gone the way of Lucas Luthor. Speaking of Luthors, with the amount of kryptonite Lionel's fondled in the last 3.5 years, I'm surprised he isn't shaking his ass off either.

This was another great episode, I loved it, Clark is still longing for a woman he can be with & share his problem's with. Hang in there Clark you only have 1 more to go (Lori Lemaris) before you meet adult Lois Lane. Anyways Alicia is out of belle Reeve, I knew she wasn't cured. , (The ice skating part, reminded me of an comic issue where Lois & Clark goes Ice skating, And Clark falls with Lois on the ice, also using the heat vision on the cup of coco was great touch.) Anyways Alicia want's to start a new life with Clark, and when he says no, Enter Red-K neakless. Kal is back. Alicia & Kal have a steamy make out in the loft, Where Kal pop's "The Question" Will you marry me? After saying Yes , Alicia & Kal head to (Sin City) Las Vagas" Where they get married,
(However Clark isn't an adult so the marrage isn't legal). After superspeeding to the bedroom, Alicia & Kal get on, and are really close to having Sex. But she takes off the Red-K, (Yes!!!!!! He's still pure for his true wife Lois) and Kal is gone & Clark is back, upset that Alicia used Red -K on him he leaves. (Yes) Also for the Jason / Lana I knew they weren't going to have Sex, (because only person Lana has Sex with is Pete Ross, & they both have a chlid Clark Kent Ross) Althought Chloe had "sex" with Jimmy while at The Daily Planet? Not Jimmy Olsen right. As for the Lionel / Lex, I don't believe he's changed, but with the episode to come maybe I will. As always Clark heads home to face his Parent's. Martha was upset, OMG She really was upset & he showed how a mother should react to these kinds of problems.
(I love that Martha took the mothering role to a whole new level.) But boy would I have loved to see Jonathan upset & taking to Clark As for Alicia taking the bullet for Clark showed that she was sorry, But something happens in the next episode, that she reavels Clark's secret to Chloe. Anyways I love this episode, Season 4 rocks. Can't wait for next week's episode.

Great episode. Another example of the "sequel" being better than the original ("Obsession"). The previews led me to believe it was going to be a cheesy ep, but it turned out to be one of the most heartfelt. They took a typical FOTW and made her a REAL character.
Some of the points:
--Chloe and Jimmy. As soon as Chloe mentioned a romp with a certain bow-tied "Jimmy," I knew the purists would be up in arms. It goes to show that when TPTB try to slyly wink at the fans, some don't know how to handle it. In my mind, she wasn't talking about "Jimmy Olsen," but even if she was, so what? It was for the fans, and we got a kick out of it!
--Clark and Alicia's date. Very cool to see Clark actually happy. It was a very sweet scene. I agree with the poster who said Clark reminded them of Reeve's "clumsy Clark" from Superman. Proving that TW would have been a very good "secret identity" Clark Kent. (Were you watching Mr. Singer? Speaking of Singer, did anyone else think the doctor looked like Kevin Spacey with long hair and a beard?) Plus, the heat vision in the cocoa was brilliant!
--The Martha/Clark scene. Awesome! I would even dare to say it was a better scene than in Memoria. I completely understand her anger. She wasn't upset because he was on Red K, she was upset because even though they warned him that Alicia was dangerous, he still pursued a relationship. Granted, Alicia was a more sympathetic character this time around, but I think Ma Kent was justified in her anger. Also, Tom's acting was brilliant. And it wasn't just the tear. It was his whole deflated face. When he was alone in the kitchen, waiting to be scolded, worrying about Dad's feelings. Very believable.
--I also like how G&M dealt with the issue of sex. When I first heard about them exploring the issue this season, I was wary. But they did it in a very realistic way. And they achieved their point without having to have Clark or Lana actually lose their virginity.
Well written. Well acted. One of the best episodes of Smallville.

Just quoting this because it's such a great summary.. and so in keeping with exactly what I thought about this ep.

Something similar happened way back when with people who makes hats, hence the term mad as a hatter...

I dunno if it was because of lead, however. I don't think making felt would ever require lead...

<---- Also a fount of useless information.

I think lead is more poisionous to children and their brain development it can lead to ******ation. Adults unless she's pregnant shouldn't be that much of a problem.

wait so what exactly did Martha say/do to Clark?!

She was disappointed in him because he went out with Alicia even though they had told him not to. (They said it was too dangerous since she knew his secret and his weakness... well, I guess she learned more about that.) Turned out she was dangerous...

So they were right to be cautious, but as Pat has pointed out time and time again:

Love is rarely logical.

Clark has clearly fallen for her, so I don't blame him.

Alicia!!...is by far the best thing to come to smallville in a long time...she truly loves clark...and he loves her too...he shouldnt let her go

You're right. It really makes me sad to think that there's no way those two could ever end up together. I mean, Lois is great, but she's yet to have such a strong role in such a great episode. I think it's safe to say that the SV audience, much like Clark, is quite taken with her.

Yup! What the heart wants, the heart wants. It's just the way it is. We could go off on an off-topic tangent here, but that horse has been beaten up enough in other threads. LOL :p

I'm glad the new shows are on, yesterday show was good, just saw it today(work most nights so I have no time to watch it then) I really thought Clark was going to have sex and get her pregnant, now that would make a interesting show :)

I know this is gonna sound weird but is it just me or did they play too much music? They were some scenes were they didn't to play any music at all.
Like when alicia is looking for the red kryptonite and they start playing Dido. I mean I can kinda see how it fits but they didn't really need to. It was kinda hamming it in a sense

Agree

I don't take their use of "Fresh" in the cheesy hip hop sense :o

 at WB calling a new episode "fresh". Way to pander you audience froggie. Back in the day, I used to get a kick out of seeing hip hop slang used in mainstream media, now it's just annoying.

What's next?

Yo son, peep that new Veronica Mars next Thrusday ya heard it. Mami got that fire and is on the case like a PO Officer. Fo' sheezy, she's build for this and all you other Investigators need to fall back or get forced to lean back!
V-Mars Next Thursday Holla!!!

I thought that this episode was fairly good. Wasn't one of the best by a long shot but it was good.Alicia is soooooo hot, they should make her a full time cast member :D :D I also thought that the choice of music for this episode was excellent. After seeing next weeks trailer, I can't wait!!!

Yeah, I noticed that too. Some of their shows had scaled back on the pop music, but Unsafe seemed to have one in almost every scene.

I don't think WB uses "fresh" in the hip hop sense (who's used the word 'fresh' since KRS One back in the day anyway?), but meaning fresh as in new, like "fresh fruit" or "fresh from the garden." Because WB's episodes are only "fresh" when they're new.

well this is the WB so I thought that what they were doing since them and UPN are synonomous with that. Them using fresh was just them being off-point

(on a side note: Krs-One is still and will always be the man :) Boggie down, boggie down, boggie down pro-duc-tions :) )
