I never even played video games. Then I got my hands on MGS. It's still the only series I bother playing.

Ditto on basing it on Metal Gear, They sould combine it with Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake to move on quickly.

Even though MGS has been told and retold many times, it's still a great story and would work so well in movie form. You don't really need to know the backstory, and it has good twists throughout. One big infiltration movie, that'd be a rare gem.
