I've always thought Tim Daly would be able to pull off Snake very well. He's got the look, the age, and a voice that can easily be changed into the gritty one we all know and love.

Ditto on basing it on Metal Gear, They sould combine it with Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake to move on quickly.

That's really the only way to go about it. Let's see a young Solid Snake on his first mission infiltrating Outer Heaven, followed by Zanzibar Land in the sequel. Big Boss is the villain. So few people even know the story of the original games, so it wouldn't be like seeing something we've already seen before.
