Probably... I have to admit, I'm expecting a baby by the end of this, or next, season.
 
Part of me doesn't see Beckett as the baby type. I don't want that typical tv show couple story oh they married, now gotta have a baby.

Beckett is a great cop I'd rather it end with them married and solving crimes etc
 
fan might not be happy if the wedding don't happen in the first episode.....

I don't think so. I think Castle and Beckett are going to do a Dirty Dancing routine, and Castle is going to hoist Beckett above his head with her in a flying pose. That's why it's going to be the new fan favourite.
 
I get the feeling they're going to end up getting married in a very small ceremony at the precinct to "reflect who Castle and Beckett are" as mentioned by the article. I don't think it's going to be as grand an affair as the one originally planned.

Or Castle will fly everyone down to some remote location where it's only close family and friends, if even that, unless they elope.

Which would be a shame if they did that. It would be reminiscent of the eventual wedding of Lois and Clark after all the bait and switch of the frog-eating clone Lois at the end of the previous season.

New showrunner David Amann would like a little from Column A and a little from Column B. "After the second episode, the audience will have some but not all of the answers about what exactly is going on," he says of explaining just how and why Castle's car came to be engulfed in flames. "It's a sufficient amount [of resolution] that the characters can move and get back to life as they knew it, but the effects of what happened to Castle will re-emerge and re-assert themselves later in the season." However, don't expect that to necessarily slow down the re-booking of a wedding. So, will we see Castle-Beckett nuptials this season? "I think that is very possible," Amann says.

I like the sound of that, it seems to rule out any possible amnesia angle and will keep the characters on track with a new threat looming over the season.

Goddamn, that was a roller coaster of an episode. Where was he? What was he doing? Dengue fever? GUNSHOT WOUND?

No doubt the amnesia is real, cannot believe TPTB would pull the same trick twice....

In a slightly better spoiler box...

Someone apparently interviewed Fillion on set while they were filming episode 7 and he was wearing a wedding ring... So ether Fillion had a secret wedding or THE wedding happens in episode 6.
 
Brilliant premiere, it had me on the edge of my seat and has created a very intriguing mystery for the season. The scenes between Castle and Beckett as they reconnected were excellently acted, she was so conflicted and he was totally baffled and in seeming disbelief while trying to keep his trademark sense of humour.
 
I'm actually kind of surprised they found him this quick, I figured at least by the 2nd episode. But now that it's out of the way, we can get to all the real fun.
 
Next week's episode will go back to non-serious....for the most part.
 
I hope they don't drag this storyline out though as if nothing happened. They should continue the investigation into Castle's missing 2 months. I don't want to wait for the season finale to find out what happened to him.

Well, I assume Beckett will continue the investigation seeing how she put up a murder board at her apartment similar to the one she had for her mother's case. Would be nice to see her working on it while not at the precinct.

By the way, am I the only one who was annoyed with Esposito in this episode? He never gave Castle even the benefit of the doubt. How can he just turn on Castle like that? It's not like they haven't been through weirder stuff, like the 3XK-cases for example. I could maybe see this coming from Gates, but Espo? That was just wrong, especially after all the things they've been through these past 6 (!) years.

As for who's behind it, they didn't give a lot of extra information. Let's look at the "obvious" suspects:
- I don't think it's Bracken, it's too predictable.
- An enemy of Castle's dad kidnapping someone he cares for? Nah, been there, done that.
- Now 3XK on the other hand is something different. This episode actually made me suspect him a little more. Why? Because of the episode "Disciple". Previously he had already mentioned that he had his face changed before and in "Disciple" we meet his supposed surgeon AND girlfriend (Dr. Kelly Nieman). Why is this important? There were footprints of 3 people next to the car, meaning Castle was dragged away by 2 people. Which 2 people? 3XK and Nieman. But what about the imposter from the mobile home? 3XK himself with a new face thanks to Nieman.

Now to be clear, I'm not putting all my money on 3XK, but it does seem very possible. Of course there's also the possibility of it being someone entirely else (Vincent Cardano?), maybe someone we've never even met, though the latter would seem weird... Why would a stranger kidnap Castle?

Anyway, I'm very excited to see where this is going. :woot:

I imagine it will play out across the season like Beckett's Mom's murder arc did, with some episodes dedicated solely to the plot where big reveals happen.

Yeah that didn't sit right with me either, I guess it was him feeling protective of Beckett knowing Castle past marriage history.

It was interesting that Beckett showed files of Bracken and 3XK when talking about who could be behind it, but that certainly doesn't rule either out.

I agree with you though, the theatricality and elaborateness of the set-up is very much in 3XK's wheelhouse and he is more Castle's enemy than Beckett's, and what was done has hung an element of uncertainty and even distrust over Castle with regards to his closest friends and more importantly, Kate.
