Firefly's Fillion Moves into Castle

Does that mean we're getting a good ending next Monday? :)
I can only hope it does but somehow I doubt they will. I'm assuming they will pull another cliffhanger finale that given the series is over will only frustrate fans and make people angry. Castle has done this a number of times over the years.

Why the industry thinks it is a good idea to leave stories on a cliffhanger that leaves a story unresolved if it is cancelled at the end of a season is beyond me. Every time it happens I grow more weary of watching a series that does it.

I am a fan of the show and as a fan, I'm happy it's ending given it's cast situation.

Agreed, they botched this season with the badly misjudged split storyline and then the stench of how they have treat Stana was pretty much the nail in the coffin. Hopefully they wrap up with a fun, upbeat ending befitting the show.

Didn't they say that they filmed several endings in the event of a cancellation, a renewal, or changing casts? I'm hoping there's enough time over the weekend in post to put the fitting ending in there. I have no idea how post-production for episodes in a series works, so for all I know, everything is already said and done and they don't have time to change it :whatever:

I think that they end stuff on cliffhangers both as a "hook" to lure the audience back in for the next season (to see how it's all resolved) and to try and maximize their chances of getting renewed (saying to the network "you have to bring us back, otherwise this will never be resolved').

The problem of course is that, if the network doesn't bite, then you're left with a show than ends unresolved and lots of frustrated and annoyed fans as a result.

Sucks that it got canceled, but the quality of the show was really in decline anyway with this last season, so I guess it's a good thing it's over.

At least this way I can ignore the existence of Season 8 and just have my DVD sets up through Season 7 which had a terrific finale. ;)

Honestly, I didn't bother to watch this season and from what I've heard I'm kind of glad I haven't. The end of last season was a very satisfying conclusion to not only that season but the show as a whole. It wrapped up the last overarching threads of the whole series, and concluding in a satisfactory way, at least from my perspective. So I'll probably continue to treat that as the end of the show.

I never read anything about it but I don't read everything so it's possible they filmed a proper series finale in the event they weren't renewed.

Tonights the end of an era...hopefully we get the ending we deserve instead of some choppy thrown together last minute episode. I wonder if itll be longer than an hour

I hope they will give us a good series finale!

I've been so meh with this season.

Caught up on the last three eps ready for the finale. The one with the guy that couldn't die and the one with the Cartel boss were classic Castle, I didn't care for the Omen one though, they took that beyond funny to just silly.

Hope they wrap the show up with a finale it deserves. :)

That's how you end this show? Talk about rushed.

I thought they did a good job given the LokSat storyline never had the cohesion or depth of the Bracken storyline. The Mason part was very random but the final twist with Caleb made sense as he was the one constant throughout the storyline.

Clearly once they were canceled they went back and shot that "7 years later....." footage, which was 100% the right way to close out the show IMO.

Well it wasn't a bad series finale, but I feel that it could've been better. The "7 years after" felt like an incredibly tacked-on rush job, especially coming after the scene right before it. Would've been way better if there had been a better segue between those scenes, or if the events had played out differently. I would've also preferred an ending that included all of the other characters (Castle's family, plus Espo, Ryan, and Lanie) getting a proper send-off for a series finale, kinda like what the S7 finale did but in an even better way.

But all in all, not a bad way to close out the series. For me, Castle will go down as one of the best shows I've ever seen on TV, definitely going to miss it.

This came on while I was at the gym. I had no idea it was the series finale.

For a series finale.... that could have been a lot better, it could have been way more suspenseful and I've seen better episodes and better seasons finale from this show. It should have been a 2-part finale. So Castle and Beckett are both down and then it jumps two year later to them being alive.... yeah rushed and executed in a lazy way.

This is why ABC should give the writers of their show an earlier memo if the show won't be picked up for another season, to give them time to properly wrap up the show.

So, after 8 seasons...this is how castle ends? Okay.

The Episode was good, it could have worked as a season finale even(a weaker season finale, but still a season finale) for a Series Finale however...it was not enough.

You can tell that ABC messed up extremely and was just too greedy.
They wanted to squeeze out every little drop they could get, instead of ending it when there was still juice left.
They could have done it a 2 parter or even a two hour episode, but they decided to wait it out and see.
This show deserved a full finale season that pays tribute to what made it good, yet we didnt get it...shame on ABC i say.

The Last scene was series finale worthy, this is how you could have ended this show...but the episode itself was not series finale worthy.

Its a bit frustrating, this was such a great show...seeing it go out like that...but thats just how the Entertainment industry is sadly.

I will miss the show, even thought the last season was bad.
It was one of the best tv shows ever imo.

Considering that they just decided to cancel it last week, there was no chance for a two parter or two hour finale.

With the last minute decision, this was all that we were going to get.

It really does seem, given that fact, that the news of Stana leaving being receiving such a big backlash, caused ABC to go "nope, this ain't gonna work" and pull the plug really quickly.

I got around to seeing the finale last night. Rushed is an understatement. They did like 30 seconds of "7 years later" and part of that was just a call back to the first episode of the series before jumping ahead to show them with kids but no Alexis or Martha let alone the rest like Ryan and Espisito.

Still that they gave us that much was a big improvement over how some of these shows end ambiguously and without a note of finality or resolution.

I didn't even have a problem with that- my bigger issue was the 10 seconds it took to get rid of who practically was the Series' big bad.

Meh, the finale was kind of a let down. It was pretty decent, but the ending was way too rushed. I wish they ended the episode on the cliffhanger of them bleeding on the floor and got the cast together for an additional episode to wrap everything up.

Oh well, I enjoyed the show a lot (especially the first 4 seasons), but seasons 7 and 8 just didn't deliver. Too bad it had to end like this...

That was a rushed ending which did feel tacked on. Why did they even bother having them both shot when they knew the show was ending? Why not edit that bit out and cut from them arriving at their house to the 7 years later bit? They could've filmed it also with Alexis and Martha there.

And 7 years later seems a bit too soon to have that many kids. How many did they have? 3 or 4?

LokSat felt like he was pulled completely out of a hat, as if they had to make it someone who had appeared before and didn't have many choices. He was also defeated rather easily.

BTW, is there any chance they actually died on that floor and just imagined what life might be like with children? It seemed a bit of a dreamlike sequence.

I think the ending was meant to be ambiguous. Was that just a last moment story Castle dreamed up in his head? I think so. Plus Kate doesn't seem like the type of woman that would have 4 kids in less than 7yrs.
