First Look LOBO Script Review!

I would LOVE to know where Superman was when Lobo arrives to Earth in his solo movie...

Who gives a **** about that "bastich"?!?! **** Superman, Lobo is tha main man!!!

And why do people have problems with lesser, cult characters getting their time to shine? It mixes things up a bit. Comic book movies shouldn't be the same old Spiderman, Batman or Superman films all the time. Get some interesting lesser known characters out there. And anti heroes, guys who live in the grey are much more interesting than all out goody two shoes anyway.

And just because a character isn't known by the general audience don't mean ****. Characters that are just cooked up for movies, who have no previous source material can still work yes? As long as it is done right it doesn't matter if the character isn't well known. You make that character well known by doing a good job with them.

The thing about what heroes should get movies now than later shouldnt always be about what the producers shove into greenlight status. I mean Wonder Woman gets greenlit and shelved constantly, but if some dude comes forward with a Lobo script (and they think they can profit from it) than by all means give it priority. Sure, Flash and Wonder Woman are big in the comic industry and should totally have some kind of priority just because of that, do you think WB should say no to Del Toro when he finally makes an effort to make Deadman, a project he has expressed interest in, and he has a great plot in mind? The priority list should have some wiggle room in order to take advantage of opportunities that present themselves.

Definately, Ace.

I mean, in what, 1998 (:wow:?) a relatively unknown (to the GA anyways) comicbook anti-hero called Blade got adapted to the big screen and well, that movie did ok, eh? Why? Because of a cool concept, slick look and good WOM.

No reason why LOBO should be any different.

Because Lobo is the bad guy....

Fine!!! I want a "Wall Street" style Lex Luthor movie...
A Silence of the Lambs style Joker movie...
And a Gladiator style movie about Ares...

Lobo isn't really bad or good. He's just going to do what he wants.

And what is wrong with that? It would be different, it would break the mold. A comic book movie from the villains P.O.V. I think that would be very interesting to see.

But anyway Lobo isn't a flat out bad guy, he is a anti hero who loves killing things.

he likes drinking, and women, too :D

Lobo is not just a bad guy. Hes kinda scummy, but hes an anti-hero. You could take Escape from new York or Pitch Black and stick Lobo in the roles of Snake or Riddick, and I am sure there are more examples. Making a common antagonist into a protagonist is not a problem. Even in the Bruce Timm cartoons they used him well as a scumbag in a protagonist role.

I've always considered Lobo to be DC's version of Deadpool (which is ironic since Deadpool started off as a ripoff of Deathstroke).

I'm glad that DC is gonna make an comic series out of him; otherwise, has Lobo appeared in anything else recently?

Ya their has been some talks of lobo for a few months now. It will be nice if things do happen and it gets going.

will be interesting to see if this comes about, but pretty much half of these dc characters we heard about lately are probably not going to happen. Though if they do lobo hopefully they dont kiddify him or change him for no good reason. Even if they got pg13 they coul probably easily make him a bad ass.

Who should direct Lobo?

Well, if it wasnt for the worryingly restrictive PG-13 certificate - I'd have loved Paul Verhoeven to take a stab at it. God, he's make an absolutely sick Lobo movie if he wasnt shackled by the studio.

Let's see - what other genre directors are there? Alex Proyas? Stephen Norrington? David Twohy?

Having said all that - I get the feeling [fear] that this is the kind of vehicle that a studio might think is perfect for Paul Anderson.

Neveldine and Taylor should direct. They are great dealing with over the top scenarios and action with a badass leading character.

I concur.

Do you think the rating would restrain them sumwhat though?

Somewhat, though I think they'd be clever enough to work within it. Besides WB/DC owes them one after booting them off Hex.

You can get gore and blood by the review board if its of a different color i believe. Considering most characters should be aliens of a sort blue and green blood could be used and still keep a pg13 rating. Lobo pretty much has a built in non-expletive swearing word with "frag" and its derivatives. Sex would be the only thing u'd have to hold back on.

Just imagine the cantina scene from Star Wars: A New Hope, only instead of Obi-Wan and Luke walking in - it's the main man.

That's what we should see at some point in this movie - Lobo walking into a space bar filled with some of the scum of the universe.

Then he lays waste to everyone in it. :D
