First Q/A answers released from Penn

I have never seen a writer so ashamed of his script, without actually saying it. It seems you can't blame Ratner or Penn. It's obviously the studios fault that this movie was so horrible. It seems the writer and director had very little control.

Someone should of asked Penn on why Storm killed Calisto like that? I understand how Wolverine would kill people: He's a machine. But what Storm did, to me, was out of character and almost in cold blood.

It was also waste because they could of used Callisto in another sequel, and she was damn hot too. I felt she was more mis-guided than an actual villain. It's lame.

remember....... deaths aren't forever in these films

Bull Jokernick :) I'm sure that you're joking but if you're serious, she'll come back as ghost then. I would rather have her being defeated by Phoenix then to be shocked to DEATH by Storm. Stupid!

You realize Storm stabbed her through the heart in the comic, yes?

I think that MIGHT be a bit more harsh :p

I think they should of had storm fry her, but not have died, kind of like in ROTS, have her get real ugly from scars, then maybe have her left eye explode..........

But they had a history. Perhaps it was more personal.

Here, it's just some random chick that got in Storm's way. Either way, killing her off NOW is lame-O! LAME O!

You're wrong there. Storm fried Toad in X1. When provoked, she lashes out with the elements. In the case of Callisto, it was obviously a case of 'it's either her or me' so she struck first. Callisto did survive Storm's first lightning attack at the house, but the Alcactraz attack was more intense and involved a metal fence as well. Who knows if Callisto is dead or not?

That's because we've never had chance to question writers so much before and after a movie. I don't think he was ashamed of the script, he was sorry to see so many things didn't turn out as he had hoped, let alone as fans had hoped.

Full creative control is a rare thing.

Let's take a newspaper article for comparison. A reporter writes it, then several desk editors look over it and perhaps rewrite parts of it, then page designers lay it out on the page and alter it again, then proof-readers check it and might change it again.

Writing is not an untouchable final part of any commercial product. It's the starting point and sadly a lot of the original intention can get lost along the way. Sometimes things are improved, sometimes they aren't.

This is true. I work with designers at my job...and we're the ones with the creative control. We love to find people with new ideas, but honestly...it's all a matter of budget and what works for us in the long run.

Frustrating, sure...but that's just how it works.

I don't think he has anything to be ashamed of. Frankly, I'm amazed he's out there addressing the fans. That's got to be tough.

Especially with some of the BS they've been giving him

I like how he's directly addressing some people.

I think you've actually got some pretty valid points, Jan.

I still think Mags on the loose is a hole in the plot - personally. Sure, bin Laden is still on the run, but I don't think he's sitting in public US parks playing chess in the broad daylight. Just a hunch. I could be wrong.

Magneto's been plastered all over television for quite a while and probably still graces the top of America's Most Wanted weekly.

But like I said, you've got some good points - and I think you've swayed me that it is possible for Mags to hide if he played his cards right.

Well maybe the government really doesn't want to find him. I mean he is harmless if powerless and remember if he went to trial a mutant with money would fund his defense, and the first thing they would do is bring the governments dirty laundry in to the mix (remeber all the proof of Stryker, a government employee trying to kill the preasident, as well as kidnapping numerous mutants). it probably would be in the governments and the worlds best interest that he not go to trial

There is one other chance, though. The X-Men may have given him a lift in the jet and then let him simply go in safety since he was depowered.

I don't think that was an option. Wasn't the jet destroyed?

I thought I saw it get destroyed. Another thing to pay more attention to the next time I see it.

Yes, the Jet gets destroyed, they show it for a sec. :(

So there was never a Colossus vs Juggernaut fight,so now we won't get it for the dvd:mad:

Ah, I figured, but it went by so fast I thought I might be wrong and it was the roof of the building getting destroyed.

One more reason not to buy the DVD:mad:

there goes 10,000,000 dollars

Surely that could've covered the cost of a few seconds of Colossus vs. Juggernaut goodness :p

double post

Sorry about that. It gave me a page error when I submitted it, so I redid it.

What would the insurance be like for that jet?

Imagine trying to explain that to the insurance adjuster?

"So, Miss Monroe, you're trying to tell Geicko Insurance that the jet was demolecularized by someone named Jean who *checks notes* turned into the Dark Phoenix? Is that your story?"

Before anyone points it out. Yes, I realize (and Jan does too) that a secret jet wouldn't have any insurance coverage. :)

lol^^

There's a commercial parody in there somewhere.

"When our jet was destroyed by a former comrade of ours, Mutant Life was there when we needed them."

Hey, there could be mutant-owned insurance companies out there :p

One thing that NEEDS to be answered--

Why the HELL didn't Wolverine just stab Jean with one of the cure needles instead of murdering her unnecessarily? Seriously. They had cure needles. WTF?

Somebody ask him that. Please. Please. I must know.

I read somewhere that originally in the comics she was originally supposed to be depowered by the Shiar. But the editor felt that was too light a punishment for her destroying all those stars so he wanted her to be sentenced to some sort of horrific prison. The compromise I guess was to have her sacrifice herself.

ummm.....because Jean would've demolecularized the cure needles?????

only Wolvie's adamantium skeleton and healing factor saved him..........so unless the needles were made out of adamantium.......they would've gone poof just like everything else.

Of course.....Wolvie could've just given her a swift adamantium headbutt to knock her out.......but that wouldn't be as dramatic.....
