First Steps - Rotten Tomatoes & Metacritic

I’m enjoying reading some of the negative reviews.

Because some of the things they’re saying they wanted and didn’t get are things I never wanted - like a long, noisy, overdone, confusing, heavy CGI “action sequence” at the end.
Didn't work for Man of Steel or Wonder Woman.

⬇️ Metacritic - 64 (39 reviews)

Critics Consensus
Benefitting from rock-solid cast chemistry and clad in appealingly retro 1960s design, this crack at The Fantastic Four does Marvel's First Family justice.

Hey all it's been literal years since I've posted got a little depressed during these last few down years.
So so happy to see the reception to the F4 movie

It was at 89% this morning and since dropped down a couple points again but it's looking like high 80s

Been waiting for this moment for YEARS

Some of the negative reviews make me think that Comic Book Movie Fatigue is a real thing.
But only among movie critics.

I don't even read the reviews, I just look at the RT/MC score.

The funniest negative I saw said, something like Im sorry I was negative towards superman or something like that. Lol

Edit:

Main page back up to 88% even though when you click it (at least for me it still says 87%)

It's been a real journey. I was here when it was reported that FOX was rushing a FF reboot because they were about to lose the rights. I remember all the BTS drama with that film and that bonkers opening weekend when the movie instantly became a laughing stock and was outright panned by critics and audiences. And then all the hype when we learned that Disney was buying FOX and the disappointment that followed when years kept going by and there was no FF news. Honestly feels like a miracle that we've arrived at this point.

Looks like the film’s score will stabilize somewhere in the neighborhood of the mid-high 80’s percentage range. There’s a fairly slim possibility of the score veering into the low 90’s territory, but I suspect the film stays in the 80’s, which, when it’s all said and done, is definitely an achievement. Certainly a major step-up from the last film’s RT score.

I think both Thunderbolts and F4 will deservedly get a higher rating than Superman.

Back to 89%

Gotta admit didn't think it would get there again...is 90% still possible?

Superman has over 440 reviews now, F4 has something like 246 at the moment, so yes it could quite easily if it gets a bunch of positive ones, of course its also quite possible to go down in the other direction a bit still too, assuming F4 will get a similar number of reviews by the end of things.

At this point, I don't think its gonna go down to 85%. It might go back and forth between 87% and 88% from time to time.

I'm baffled by the high RT score even though I enjoyed it. I thought the 2005 and 7 movies were better. I'm glad its making money though because I want this to be successful.

Well that's a surprise! So what score this movie should have received if its worse than those films? Lower than 28%?

Very high because I love those movies. I didn't think about RT score of those when I wrote that.

You didn't answer my question. I asked what score First Steps should have received, since you thought it is inferior that the 2000s movies.

I expected the RT score to be around 75-82.
But you said you were baffled how it scored especially compare to previous F4 films. You do know that Fantastic Four 2008 only has 28% and Rise of the Silver Surfer is at 37%.

75% to 82% isn't really that far from the current 87% score, especially considering what the previous films got which is 50 to 59 points lower.

Rotten Tomatoes isn't a school grade. It's just a percentage of how many critics like a movie.
