Transformers FIRST TOY IMAGES - Optimus Prime and Starscream "Protoforms"...

You don't know that. These forms may be one of the revisions that came later in the project.

Yeah you're right. I mean sure that script is from just Febuary, but still, maybe they added whole protoform versions of Starscream into the film for no reason.

Oh and also, one of the Batman Begins deleted scenes has him in scuba armor.

ohh come on its modes to stop them burning up as they enter the atmosphere, nothing to throw a riot over, but then i forget these are sad silly little fanboys who moan and ***** unless everything is exactly like the film that they acted out with there toys down in the basement

Hmm I don't think that is the case, look closely at Prime transformed, he has wheels. Why put wheels on something just to enter earths atmosphere. I would say that these are there true forms of the Transformers when they live on Cybertron. Prime as a cybertronian truck and Starscream as a cybertronian jet. Considering there is going to be a novel writen based on these (set before the movie) I think they are trying to establish a new history which is alternate to the classic G1. Much like what they did with the Energon series, Hearts of Steel series etc.

The "non-existent" wheels on Prime's pre-Earth robot mode do look out of place and silly.

Plus, here's a nice plot hole: If they can rocket through space, why bother changing into a semi to just roll around on the planet. You're bound by streets...how about you keep your space mode and rocket to the dam to fight the Decepticons. Or are you not in a hurry to save your species?

i dont see what all the fuss is about.......

its not like they will look like that for longer than 5min in the movie...lol

btw can we please merge this thread alreayd

I don't care about them in the movie. I just think the toys suck.

I'm just looking at these as toys, nothing more. Who knows how these will compare to what we see in the movie. As toys they're pretty cool, I like proportions and articulation, they do look kind of cheap for some reason though. I like how they went the G1 direction and created pre earth modes that still resembled what they'd eventually be after scanning. This was the line of toys I wanted when the original cartoon came out.

Look...what I meant was simply this...the WRITERS may have described the protoforms one way, but Bay and the design team may have come up with something different later in the project. Since most of the f/x work is not even really begun yet, you don't know what the final design would be. The script could just be what the writers envisioned, and not what they went with...but thanks for playing.

Well they are changing Megatrons head so anything is possible.

If you've seen the first episodes of more than meets the eye it appears as though the autobots floated over the surface of Cybertron in their vehicle forms(They probably used magnetism to float.). Only one autobot appeared to have wheels under him in vehicle form(Bumblebee). Therefore, Prime's cybertron mode does not bother me.

Good point but, I thought the reason why the autobots and decepticons took on earth modes was for disguise. Also, if you remember the G1 cartoon the autobots rarely flew. I thought the reason they used the ground for their primary means of transportation to conserve energy. The Decepticons who clearly needed more energy to fly had to constantly make energon cubes thereby using up earths resources. Since the autobots were moral they choose not to use earth's resources for their energy. I'm sure they used whatever energy that was still inside the Arc just to keep themselves functional.

Robots in disguise.

What the heck is a "scuba armor"? That wasn't Batman, that was one of them ninjas.

OK. These toys are supposed to represent the Cybertronian forms of the Transformers. Prime in a Cybertronian truck of some kind. Starscream is a Cybertronian jet of some kind. I said it once, but I guess everyone missed it, but these forms will most likely NOT be in the movie. By leaving them out of the movie, they will save a bunch of money, because they will not have to render multiple character models for each Transformer. But Hasbro, being a mutli-gazillion dollar toy company isn't going to pass up a chance to make some more money. Hence we get these toys as well, so all the little kiddies can play "Transformers on Cybertron!!!" I hope this settles some of the diputes on what we're looking at here.
And I circled Prime's wheels in his vehicle mode for those who don't think they exist.

I can see the wheels on his hips and legs as well.

There is mention in the script of these forms, they are just described a little differently. I am betting we will see at least one of them in the film, more than likely it will be Prime, since his arrival and alt mode scanning are important scenes in the script.

Although technically they only mentioned the endoskeletons when in robot form and not the armour itself, which was formed when a suitable alt-mode was scanned (if I remember right).

Script? What script? It is any good? Where can I stumble upon a copy? Not that I really want want cause it may be illegal, but if I happen to find one at my doorstep, well...

from my eyes it looks like they are takin the shame of meatiors so they can travle in space....

No, they mentioned the Autobots arriving to meet Sam in "orbs." The alt-modes you see on the package ARE the orbs.

The Autobots I will buy, but the Decepticons don't care about non-confrontation, hence Scorponok's attack. But the rest of the Decepticons assume Earth modes for no reason. If you can fly through space you can defeat the armies of Earth, so why bother hiding?

Take a trip over to the "Scipt Discussion" thread.

This is actually true for the whole Transformers franchise. Why exactly do they need to disguise themselves on their home planet anyway?? To keep their wives from knowing they were cheating on them??

It may be just because the other designs I've seen have made me cry, but I really like that Starscream. The face is a bit off, but I think he looks good there.
