Flack for being Fat

If you are a fatty, you deserve to be made fun of.

Excercise and stop eating shee-it, people!
I feel (a little) bad for the people whose metabolism just plain suck. I have a friend that'll go off his planned diet for just a week or so, and he'll just balloon. :funny:

this is me. I am 6'0, 270 lbs. Fat.

I don't have to worry about losing weight. If anything, I need to gain muscle mass. I've been skinny all my life. I eat a lot but I don't gain any of it.

I use to be overweight but I lost it with exercise and eating right. I lost 40 pounds before I went to college and damn I could eat anything and I didn't gain a pound. It was like I finally kick started my metabolism but I did continue to work out which helped.

Here are some things to do:
Do not eat after 7 at night period. When you sleep, your resting metabolism is much slower than when you are active so what you eat late pretty much stays in your body.

Eat a lot of fiber from vegetables, cereals, and power bars.

Do not drink sugary drinks or eat sugary foods. Candy and cokes are bad. Use sugar substitutes like Sweet n Low or Splenda.

Do cardio at least 2-3 times a week and weight training the other 3.

Eat a healthy breakfast every morning. It kick starts your metabolism and come lunch you won't overeat.

Do not eat fast food. You can treat yourself to it only once per week.

What if you're overweight and actually do exercise and try to watch your eating habits, but still can't seem to lose weight that much?

Then you're not doing it right/enough.

Maybe portion control:huh: Do you truly eat right and exercise every day or do you do good and then binge one day?

Genetics only puts you in the position to be overweight. The environment (you) do the rest.

I cut soda drinks recently. I find they don't cut the thirst I crave. Water or OJ for me!!! I don't it much candy. It's damn fast food that gets me:csad:

With me, I doubt it's genetics but at the same time most of the people in my family are overweight, with only few thin members.

Most of my exercise comes from walking and working and doing a lot of moving around and stuff. But I'll usually eat fast food maybe once or twice a week; but it's kinda hard when you're around food all day.

Will power:o

At this point, I'm somewhat of a night-owl, although that'll change once I get a full-time job (on government assistance at the moment). And if I'm going to travel late at night, I'd rather be mobile, especially in Dallas...there's some freaky people out at those hours.

Definitely agree with Jag on this one.

I have lived in Washington, DC for three years now. A city known for its high crime rate. Yet, I have managed to walk off twenty pounds in the past year, walking through neighborhoods known to have a high crime rate. I've never been attacked, robbed, mugged, etc.. So to say that there are "freaky" people out there, and that is a reason why you don't want to take a nighttime stroll (of all places, doesn't Dallas have a relatively low per capita crime rate?), isn't really a legitimate excuse.

A good first step, and a simple one at that, would be to cut sodas. Even if you only cut your weekly intake in half, it'll help tremendously. Don't let "diet" sodas fool you. They may be lower cal, but check out the sodium/ sugar levels on bottle.

I'm good at keeping new years resolutions (one way to quit cursing, and its been about 3 years) but this year my new years resolution was to quit drinking sodas just cause I wanted to be healthier

I lost 10 lbs in a month just by swapping soda for water. I'd gained a little weight over the holidays and just by doing that I lost the 10 lbs. I still don't drink soda, I drink lots of water and sometimes ill add some crystal light in there. My only real indulgence is the occassional sweet tea, but I'm southern, so I can't give up the tea but I don't drink it much

I'm not obese but I'm not a size two and I've been working on just eating healthier in general. I've lost about 20lbs just by eating better. I eat home cooked meals a lot, try not to eat out much. And I snack on trail mix.

By avoiding sodas, and fast food, even if I've not been dropping a lot of weight, although I'm very happy with the 20, I feel so much better. I'm more energetic (which helps with my gazillion jobs, right spoons?). I just feel like I have more "go" power and higher energy levels. And in a way I think my moods have been better and more positive.

Can't keep 20 jobs if you got no energy :D

One of my closest friends was always big. In college, he weighed in @ an astounding 490 lbs! He is only 6 foot tall! Obviously, we caught a lot of flack for it.

At some point, he got sick of it and asked if he could workout with me. Of course I said yes and he decided enough was enough-started eating better-not crazy crash diet, just more salads, no cokes, a LOT less sweets, baked over fried, etc.

2 years later and he weighed 225 and could run a half marathon and lift some decent weight! It doesnt take diet pills or surgery. Hard work and discipline pay off and my friend is living proof of it.

By the way, magically after all this he got promoted at work and found a great girl and got married....imagine that!

I have to agree. I cut Soda and lost 15 pounds. Then I went on a diet, exercised, and cut a few meals (I wouldn't recommend that) and lost nearly 80 pounds. I use to be such a fatty ding dong. But yes, cutting soda does help, even if it's the first step.

Not to my face, i would eat them alive like so many honey mustard pretzels. Well, i mean i'm not severly over weight but not up to todays "standards" of what women are suppose to look like. but screw it, i work 2 jobs, go to school, and i'm ten times more active then the little stickgirls around me so if someone had the gull to make some stupid fat joke to me it would be on.
