Dating when overweight

A lot of people will date someone that, in one way or another, is not like them; some date outside their race, someone who's rich may date someone who isn't rich, etc.

But when it comes to something like body weight a thinner person won't necessarily date someone who's overweight; so the question is...if a person is overweight do they automatically have to date someone who's overweight also?

No, they just need to put soome effort into either losing some weight and improving their appearance, or have a fantastic personality. I have a friend who's about 60 lbs overweight, but he's a great confident guy who is HILARIOUS so gets some dates with pretty girls...hell he's currently got a g/f while I am in a dry spell...go figure [shrug]

a lot of people also date people who are similar to them, either in profession or hobbies or even actually in looks.

this question is somewhat kinda out of this world, it's full of assumptions...

Don't tell me you've never seen a skinny guy/girl paired with an overweight partner. I mean it is not that uncommon. Though I will say there is a difference between overweight and fat/obese. Someone can have a gut, be overweight or even fat and still be the life of the party and super-confident...get any woman he pleases (maybe even have a good deal of money helping him). However I would say if you're obese, you have more of a dilema. I find if someone is fat to the point that it impairs their ability to have a "normal" lifestyle, that is when it creeps into their dating ability the most. Sure hot people may not have to initiate a conversation, or try incredibly hard to draw attention from partners. However that doesn't mean they can seal any deals. Also I should point out that being fat does not necessarily make someone unattractive.

SOME PEOPLE (USUALLY VERY THIN MALES) ACTUALLY HAVE A FAT/OBESITY FETISH, AND WON'T DATE ANYONE WHO ISN'T 3-4 TIMES THEIR SIZE.
WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE, I WORKED WITH A GUY IN THE UNIVERSITY MUSEUM, WHO WAS LIKE THAT. HE WAS KINDA CREEPY, REALLY......VERY QUITE, SKINNY, NERDY, HAD A FUNKY ODOR........THE WHOLE PACKAGE. HE WOULD BRING HIS BOOKBAG INTO WORK, AND SIT IN A CHAIR IN ONE OF THE GALLERIES AND READ/STUDY, UNTIL PEOPLE CAME IN (HE WAS A GALLERY "GUARD"). ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, I SAW PORN MAGS WITH DISGUSTINGLY OBESE FAT WOMEN, IN HIS OPEN BOOKBAG.


TO BE FAIR, IF YOU CAN BE WITH SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS, FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES......WITHOUT THROWING UP........MORE POWER TO YA.

Well of course personality counts a lot, but it also really does come down to a person's preferences. Some people enjoy dating those who are overweight, and some people just aren't attracted to anyone who isn't "fit". I cannot see myself dating anyone who was overweight, but that's just me.

Personally, I think people who are good looking should be with people who are good looking, and people who are overweight should find someone who is overweight. It provides a more pleaseing and proper aesthetic quality in the world, IMO.

I am also a firm believer in pursuing someone of like interests. I've never really bought into this notion of "Opposites Attract" I think it was someone's fetish, and it ran wild by becoming the "in" thing to do at one time, and it has now permeated througout American Culture, and since the rest of the world watches to see what the US will do, they have followed suit.

People should be with others of like note, whether that be physically, intellectually, etc. Is it boring? I don't think so. I believe it is much more sane than being with someone who is so opposite of you, it drives one to chaos.
