I wonder what's up with those fire works.
That was my 1st thought too. I don't remember them in the trailer. Damn. I've watched it a dozen times & still missed things. I think I need to watch it a dozen more. I have no issues with that.

My thoughts exactly. I'm looking forward to see her in real action. The trailer just gave very few teases of what i would hope/expect is badassery.
that's not what Becky means in her song...
Valkyrie has the same symbol in her cape as the asgardain warriors... Einherjar.

Pure strength i doubt would be a focus of her character abilities. From what i read and heard is more a very skilled badass fighter with several cool weapons.
So much awesome.![]()
I kind of wonder at whether and how they take down Hela, assuming that scene is how she was originally defeated. I mean, on the surface, either Brynnhildr and the Valkyries are *much* more powerful than we've seen, or else some special circumstance would have to apply. After all, we *do* have a good idea of how powerful Hela is, and I wouldn't expect 30 Sifs, or even 30 hammerless Thors, to be able to take her down.
Oh and by the way when the Valkyries attack Hela in that Epic shot, it's like a small army of them against Hela... It's like 30 of them on pegasus. Some have swords and shields.

Well Sif did kick an RV and made is slide along the ground in Agents of Shield.
I would love to see Sif and Valkyrie fight side by side.
My view on that is that the Einherjar are the regular army of Asgard in the MCU. While the Valkyries are some kind of "Special Ops" group.I wonder if the Valkyries and the Einherjar were effectively the same thing: the elite army of Asgard. Valkyries were cavalry, Einherjar infantry.
The main difference here being, Brynnhildr is a veteran of the times when Asgard was regularly at war with terrible foes, whereas the Einherjar we see are largely a peacetime army. Plus, she's the best of the best of the old Valkyries, what with being the only one who survived.
I always looked at that scene and thought about that being how Hela completely destroyed the Valkyries and i never looked it from the perspective that it could be how she get's imprisoned... It could be though. But from what we see the Valkyries get obliterated by Hela.I kind of wonder at whether and how they take down Hela, assuming that scene is how she was originally defeated. I guess the only one capable of imprison her would be Odin.

I guess I had always interpreted that scene as "Hela's last hurray" before she was imprisoned, for some reason. Though it could always be both: the Valkyries died almost to a woman fighting her, and didn't really do much to her. . . except keep her occupied in battle. *Then* Odin showed up, and blammo.
If so, it would contribute to her self-exile: "Did you really even care about us? Were we just a distraction to you?" Which would be doubly painful if the answer is "Yes, I did care about you all. And as king, it was my duty to sacrifice you as a distraction, if that were necessary."
Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie)
An elite warrior of Asgard who has sort of lost her way is how Thompson describes her character. The actress and Waititi wanted to deviate from the comic book version of Valkyrie, and instead create a more timely character.
There's an unfair position that women are sometimes put in, in the context of superhero movies and action movies where at once they have to be very strong and fierce, but also sexy, Thompson said. Obviously, it's still a superhero movie and so you've got to figure out when you need to stand with your hands on your hips and what makes sense. But we wanted to create a character that occupied her own iconography.
There's one word I hate in all scripts in Hollywood at the moment in describing women, and that is the word badass. That word has just crept into every script that is pushed around this town now. It's terrible, because it doesn't mean anything. It's a dumb male writer's way of saying, Ah, uh, she's like, she, uh, she's tough. Then straight after that it's like, She's badass, but she's got a beauty about her. And she's sexy. Unconsciously sexy.
