Yeah I dont see a whole lot of change in the squad at the moment. Starting another season where Lindelof, Evans and Maguire are getting minutes is not likely to lead to anything more than what we already have had, same with Casemiro and Eriksen who both looked like the Prem was too much for them last season. The squad underperformed last season sure, so it can do better but thats not really raising the bar more just playing to your potential which looks like 4th would be about the ceiling again but that wont be easy with the other sides around us. My expectations for this season are not exactly high at the moment.

I'm not expecting much difference even if we sign the other 3 players we are linked with, there's just so many wasters in this team that we can't shift, and Ten Hag seems intent of playing this system where we attack with 6 despite not having the players suited to it.

Wow, a lot of potentially good news there. Both of those transfers would be massive for West Ham, and I’d definitely take Guehi. Didn’t really think it would be realistic if any other big clubs went for him.

Agents are the absolute bane of the game, I doubt barely any of them care about what's best for the player. In this case apparently Bayern and PSG offered him more but the key thing was the path to the first team we've supposedly shown him, given his physical size I wouldn't be surprised to see him get some game time this season given the way we stack up injuries.

Is he? I didn't know that about Saka, interesting! :hmm: 😁 I can't see him coming to United at any point in truth, he's a mainstay of Arteta's project and you are miles ahead of us, I'd say we are another 2 seasons away from even being confident of getting top 4.
I agree. Mudryk is a classic example of this. Yeah, I reckon he will turn out a real coup for you and something we are going to, yet again, regret down the line.

Yeah, I believe so. I wouldn't be so sure. We don't know how long Arteta is going to stick around. He's made no secret of his desire to try his hand managing abroad, specifically Spain, at some point. Plus, if we continue to come up short and not win anything, players will inevitably start to to have second thoughts making it easier for their heads to be turned.

Nah mate, I wouldn't be so sure, or quick to assume that. I never write off, or dismiss anyone, or anything because you just don't know. Two season's ago, you'd of been laughed and bantered out of the room for saying Arsenal would of been in for a shout of top 4, yet we found ourselves in a race of the title.

West Ham are making some interesting moves, and I think Guehi could be a good partner for Botman.

I’ll be very positively surprised if we get anyone of that quality after very recently falling foul of FFP and not being right up there as a club just yet, but them 2 in the centre of defence for the foreseeable future would be a solid pairing.

Again, after all the fuss to date and work done on Ugarte, the new method allows walking away when the numbers don’t look good. This is a very different Utd on the transfer front.

It'll be a real coup if you can get Zubimendi. Sounds like de Jong could be back on the agenda too.

Yeah, I saw the de Jong rumours starting to bubble yesterday, problem is his wages. I've got no hope of us signing Zubimendi and we are getting linked to mediocre players like Sander Berge and Joao Gomes because we don't have the finances due to the previous clowns blowing £150M on Casemiro and Antony.

Yeah, but when you look at some of the options this is leading us towards....... :nrv:

I think if you can make it happen then the Botman and Guehi partnership is pretty complimentary. Do you think Schar stays? He's always looked a good player to me from his Basle days.

Nobody is going to pay de Jong those wages. Either Barca are forced to stick it out with him, or he's going to have to take a significant pay cut. I like Zubimendi a lot, though I don't know if he's be physically up to playing the #6 role in the PL week in, week out. I think you'd need to pair him with at least one physical player in the middle to help him out. Yeah, that may be what has to happen first though just to stabilise yourselves and get on track before going for the real gems, similar to the route we had to take.

Yeah, very excited about that prospect if there is a real chance to it. I’d keep Schar if he wanted to stay, been very reliable for us. Don’t blame him if he wants to move on either.

Seems a bit more activity in the market now at least as we get closer to kick-off. Not sure anyone has been declared winner of the transfer window though yet like usual. I guess perhaps West Ham? Not that title ever tends to mean anything tangible often.

Mad fee for Alvarez but he would be starting for any other side other than City so can see he would want a move.

I think he will become a leading striker. It was only Haaland keeping him out who would have kept pretty much anyone out.

It seems a bit of a domino effect merry go round. The Gallagher, Omorodion and Alvarez deals all seem to be interlinked with one another.

Yeah that would be a decent signing for Spurs, plenty of Prem experience now and would be able to hit the ground running. Is one of the players that has gone under the radar a bit but has got plenty of goals for Bournemouth.
