For those of you who ENJOYED the movie ... post your thoughts here ...

So, I think I'll clue this up now. I'm sure there's lots more to talk about and I known I will in the coming days, weeks and months. I'm gonna go see the film a few more times yet and I'm sure there are things I'll pick up on as I do. All in all though, as a general movie goer, I'm very very pleased with the movie. It was (again) really fun and that's what I want in a movie going experience. As a fan of the character, I'm equally impressed. Sure, there were some liberties taken but, do we really expect anything less? Look at the facts folks; it was fun, it was true to the character and it is successful. What more could we ask for?

Bring on GR2!!

Exactly, thats ALL that matters. Great post!

It reall was a overall good movie, Im not sure why it has so much negative feedback in other threads

Simple, people are reading way to much into it. This movie wasnt made for the "academy", it was made for the "comic geeks".

It's strange though. Ghost Rider's never been a popular superhero that I thought even had "purists" who'd be pissed about a lack of the right amount of flame or something... yet suddenly it's as if ghost rider's a spider-man or a batman. Scrutinizing GR in the same way just doesn't seem right, you know?

^ I definitely agree. I, for, one am not a GR fan and had never read any GR comics. I read Spawn though but the movie was a big disappointment for me.
But GR. Woah! GR practically surprised me.

I don't think it was.

It was really made for a much broader audience. If there's anything Hollywood execs have leared from the "success" of Snakes on a Plane and Serenity...its that catering to one specific demograpic--in this case, "comic geeks" is not going to work.

Ghost Rider was made to appeal to the general public. Seriously, if it was catered to the fans, it probably would've been much darker in tone..might have even been rated R. But at the same token, it may have not been as successful financially as it would turn off parents, kids, etc. some important demographics esp. when it comes to superheroes.

Having said that, I enjoyed Ghost Rider and look forward to its sequel.

Not a Ghost Rider fan? Then BECOME one and buy the comics. The comics are a welcome addition to the movie. I agree with Lost Son88's post. If this movie wouldve been catered to real Ghost Rider fans, it wouldve been rated R. I am a GR fan and I am not a geek. :woot: I enjoyed the movie. Go buy the comics ya'll.

This movie was always made for the fans and with the fans in mind. Mark is a fan. Cage is a fan. They made this movie for them. Not only that, the made this movie keeping in mind that there are fans from several different generations and put a little piece of each in the movie. That certainly wasn't for the general public.

Yes, they made it appeal to a broader audience but, as a fan, I really enjoyed the movie these fans brought to us so, it all works out... for me.

I don't get this whole "comic fanboys are being excessive purists" followed by the contradictory "its just a comic book movie.... accept it for what it is" rationalization.......

I've never read a Ghost Rider comic book. I can tell you this,...nothing in this movie made me excited about the character. The movie had bad directing, bad characterization, horrible dialogue, pathetic action, too much forced humor, pathetic script, and wasted opportunities. That's why the film sucked. No that I cared about the Ghost Rider comics sooooo much..........or am some Academy Award expert. I was not entertained or impressed by this garbage.

my bad...I was perusing several threads and posted in this by accident....didn't mean to interrupt the excitement.

i think they'll forgive you. i don't mind though. its not my thread anyway. hehehe. i hope you feel better now that you let your bad vibes out of your system. :)

Yeah Sentinel, you're opinions are appreciated but, please keep this thread for the lovers of the movie. There's enough of the other ones out there.

I saw it for the 2nd time Saturday. Still love it. And the game. And I'm reading the novel.

it doesn't work as an 80's movie. it's missing the two things most 80's movies have.

1. Synthesizer music.
2. A montoge (sp?)

Hi. Cinematically, Ghost Rider is an awful movie. (I would have preferred Goyer to write and Norrington to direct it). But it is aesthetically stunning, and for all it's flaws it is still solid entertainment. As I watched it, i felt it was like an anti-Superman movie, which made me enjoy it all the more. I liked Cage, because for once an actor embraced his comic book role.
I didn't like Wes Bentley because I expected him to be carrying a camera shooting a plastic bag in the wind.

I don't know a whole lot about the history of the Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider, so I hadn't anything to complain about. It was better than the second Punisher, X3, Hulk, Elektra, Daredevil, definitely better than Spawn, and clearly better than Superman Returns.

I really liked it, both GR and the Hellcycle looked AWESOME! I wish the fight scenes would have been longer tho, (Bad Guys die WAY to easy IMO) but I thought it was a good movie overall. Could it have been better? Sure....but hey....it was Ghost Rider!

I still don't think Cage was the right guy for this. While I have enjoyed some of his work, he just didn't feel like someone who was believable as Johnny Blaze. Blaze was a tormented man...Cage just seemed...well...like he did in National Treasure lol.

That being said...I can't wait to add this movie to my DVD collection and I can't wait for GR II!

Love it still, just saw it for the 3rd time. Took the kids, they had a blast. I've finished the game & I'm 2/3 through the book.

You know what i still don't understand the extreme hate for this movie.

I saw it the second night out and i thought it was a really fun and entertaning movie. I mean does everyone want every comic book movie to be dark and moody? I just don't understand the hate. Can someone explain it?

Hellboy>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ghost Rider

But it shouldn't be fair to compare MSJ to Del Toro. So I'll say:

Ghost Rider>>>>>>>>>>Spawn

After the star wars prequels, Spiderman, the matrix, Lotr, and all the petty fanboy wars online fans have become more and more like critics than fans.

Simply put there is a growing sense of arrogance in the internet due to the abundance of information within cyberspace. People think they know it all, seen it all, been there done that and can judge every movie from the stand-point of a knowledgable critic with years of movie watching experience.

My opinion of course.

and my opinion is that i dont think im some kind of movie critic, I HATE CRITICS, cause i dont see what makes them so special that they should be telling ppl what to see n what not to see.BUT i do know when a movie is made good or not, even if a person likes poorly made movies, they'd still know when a movie is made bad or good. and as for J alba's lover's comment "I saw it the second night out and i thought it was a really fun and entertaning movie. I mean does everyone want every comic book movie to be dark and moody? I just don't understand the hate. Can someone explain it?" not EVERY comic book movie has to be dark and moody b/c not EVERY comic book is dark and moody. BUT! if the comic book just so happens to BE dark and moody, so should the movie that is being made about the comic. if the crow movie was made all light-hearted and campy and full of family fun, how would you feel about it? and incase you dont know, the crow comics certainly are dark and moody, just as the movie was.

Not a fan of the crow bird, so I don't really care about his movies. Though I do remember that the star died while making it, which was saddening to me as a huge Bruce Lee fan, and that maybe 5 people on earth are huge fans of it... Back in the VHS days, Highlander was more popular than that crow guy. I like the whole concept of immortality and only a beheading being the way for these guys to kill each other... anyway...

The crow sequels are what probably make the first film look so great even though it's not. I saw it, and it's interesting, but it didn't leave much of an impact on me. The music, I can't remember. The characters, I can't remember much about besides the Crow himself... so, not much impact, no.

I also would like to say that "just like the comic" does not = Good movie. Comics and movies are different mediums. Directors who forget this are dumb.

directors that make comic adaptions in their own perverse vision are dumb (for example, msj).
and to say that "maybe 5 ppl on the earth are huge fans of it..." is ridiculous and ignorant. less you actually did a census of everyone in the world of who liked the crow movie or not, i wouldnt be saying things like that. and im not getting defensive like this because im a HUGE fan of the crow movie or comics, b/c i dont read the comics and im not in love with the movie but i did like it and i did enjoy it and also it was made good,EVEN WITH THE STAR OF THE MOVIE BEING ACCIDENTALLY KILLED IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING THE MOVIE, the crow was made 100 times better than ghost rider was. and what in sam hell does highlander have to do with the crow movie? was there some kind of box office rivalry betw the two? seriously, quit talking out of yer a**.

I know only like maybe 5 people on earth are huge crow fans because when I was drinking some delicious ectocooler at lunch time, my friends and I would discuss how awesome powerrangers and TMNT were, not that crow freak.

Then we went to each other's houses to relax and watch scrambled porn.

Those were the days....

Highlander doesn't have much to do with crow except that I remember it being more popular, therefore in my mind crow's not as great as you try to make it seem here.

Also I'll add that I think a director who adds no creative input into a comic adaptation is just wasting his time and might as well not call himself an artist, just a translator. I find that true ignorance is in believing that everything in the comic will transfer nicely to the screen. Which is BS. The ninja turtles for example all wore red eye masks in the comic, which was changed for the movie to allow people to know which character was which, and it's been that way ever since. It's when the film isn't respectful to the comic in terms of tone, certain key details, and most importantly character, that it's worth throwing tantrums over.
