For Casey not being arrested - The chief was possessed and had some pull in that area.

The priest having an affair was meant to show that he's a flawed, conflicted priest and that would turn on him during the exorcisms.

I think some of the stuff (like the rich lady with the disabled husband in the other room) had a story line but they probably weren't sure if they'd be renewed for another season, but at least they'd have some material to work with if they do.

I mentioned in my post that I understand that there were high ranking cops who might have pulled strings...but they didn't address it...and besides...I just didnt like it. You don't rip a dude's face off and then go home.

And again, I understand that they wanted to show a flawed priest...I just didn't care. Near the end the storyline was tossed away with no effort anyway. The husband finding out was pointless.

The show felt a bit like they had a plan...and then started changing that plan while in production. It still managed to be pretty good.

Yes...she committed an incredibly violent crime against another person...went to the hospital as a patient that didn't even have to speak with police...and then went home.

I get it...the show is about demons and stuff...but it disconnects from what I view as reality when someone can commit that kind of crime in front a bunch of witnesses and then not be charged or even interviewed by the cops. It's not a deal-breaker that ruined the show...but it is a thing for me.

And despite not getting a back order, there is talk that well-received new drama Exorcist also looks good to come back.

I more or less made peace with that finale being it for the show, so I'm a little shocked to hear it might still be in contention.

Curious what the story will be. I've seen a few sites refer to it as a "New Chapter". I hope that's moving Tomas and Marcus to a new location/family in trouble, rather than just starting completely fresh. I think the Rance's story is more or less done, but no need to get rid of those two.

Rance Family out! Priests stay.

The priestly trio of Alfonso Herrera, Kurt Egyiawan and Ben Daniels will all be back as series regulars, but they will be presiding over a new possession case. As a result, Geena Davis, Alan Ruck, Hannah Kasulka and Brianne Howey — aka the demonized Rance clan — are exiting the series (although they could return on a guest-star basis).
