Franchises that need a reboot

Reboots suck. If reboots came into play earlier, there would be no Star Trek VI or Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade.

Can you imagine them rebooting Rocky because V sucked and us never getting Rocky Balboa?

The only reboots I could stomach are of crappy video game adaptations because there's material there for legitimately good films.

Dungeons and Dragons - do it like the 80s cartoon show, make it as serious and scary as LOTR, rather than Narnia.

Planet of the Apes - give it another go, this time have a decent script before filming. The Burton one had it's moments and made money, so I don't think the brand name has been bismirched that bad.

Swamp Thing - make it like the Moore books, good scary CGI creature, could be a great superhero/horror combi.

I'm getting really sick of everything having to rebooted these days... Just about the only ones that really deserve it are The Rocketeer and The Shadow.

Considering Batman Begins,Star Trek and Casino Royale that's a terribly flawed way of looking at things.

After Batman Forever B&R where was that franchise supposed to continue? The same thing after Brosnan's last 2-3 movies.

Rebooting a franchise like Spider-Man can be viewed as overreaction but a lot of the time, some franchises are at a dead end both critically/creatively and at odds with the audience and starting over is the best thing to do.

The Dark Knight,Casino Royale and Star Trek are the highest grossing, best reviewed movies of their franchises (or at least after Connery for JB) so i would say when done right, they work.

Spiderman has to be rebooted since Sony would lose the rights if they don't act. I honetly believe studios would like to take at least 10-15 years before completely rebooting if they could. With Bond and Trek, you already had movies out every 3-4 years for the past 40 years so it is really nothing new. Besides, which of those franchises had origin movies recently, if ever? It will be interesting to see what happens to Bond/Trek after the current makeup moves on. Will they go back to Picard? My guess is they will just create new characters. Bond can go on for another forty years or so, but it might be it for a while after Craig hangs it up.

While I agree that most reboots these days are unnecessary, I would like to see The Mask rebooted to be more like the comics this time.

Ghost Rider
Fantastic Four
Daredevil
Spider-Man (yeah, i agree with the reboot idea for this, sue me)
The Punisher (as long Ray Stevens is Frank Castle again, then GO FOR IT!)
Superman (Just KEEP KEVIN SPACEY AS LEX LUTHOR! HE WAS PERFECT CASTING!)
The Mask (yeah, I think Jim Carrey needs to do another one, but as a DIRECT SEQUEL TO THE FIRST ONE; Son of the Mask doesn't count!:cmad:)

Any Fox or Sony Marvel property should be rebooted under Marvel Studios and should be made part of the Marvel Film Universe.

Ghost Rider and Punisher I disagree with.

Ghost Rider has the look, but not the story in my opinion, of all the times I've tried to get into the series, it's just never grabbed me, I know he came out in the '70s, but the '90s is when the character really took off and it shows that he's a '90s Marvel character, all style, very little substance.

The Punisher has been done three times and failed all three times, especially War Zone, that movie was god awful.

Wouldnt mind watching some classics have another movie.

There's a Reboot/Prequel coming soon.I believe it's going to be called Caesar. From what I read so far It seems like it could be good.

As far as the original question.Killer Klowns from Outer Space,I would make it a sequel though .Imagine How much fun that could be.

Mortal Kombat ( I liked the original but do it again with an R rating)
Resident Evil (For obvious reasons. Make it about STARS with Chris, Jill and Barry)
Dragonball Z (Never seen Dragonball Evolution and never plan to)

Get Reboot on the big screen.
