For me Akira, Vampire Hunter D, Voltron, and Robotech would be amazing films if they were done right. But this is Hollywood and we all know how they love screwing up great concepts.

The Japanese didn't create it either.

World Event Productions bought like 6 reels of different anime and spliced them together reworking everything changing settings characters even the design of the entire show, they created an entirely new show out of scraps.

Transformers isn't really anime. it's an anime tradition (giant robots) and the toys were based on japanese toys. but the original story and toon are american
